Fruits basket - anime or manga?

Hey all

I am currently reading fruits basket manga up to vol 2, but the boxset of the anime is now quite cheap. What do people prefer? manga or anime?

Both are quite diffrent also the manga story is ongoing . A moving pictures can always beat static pictures . If you liked Furuba go for both that way you can completly enjoy the Furuba Experience : D

Actually, the manga ended not too long ago. I[d say watch the anime first, then read the manga, as there's enough stuff that's different or at least interesting that was omitted in the anime, and then you can read it up to its completion.

Just like Geta Boshi said, the Furuba DVD and the manga have different storyline. I recommend the manga though but if you want a full experience and enjoyment, then get both. As you said it yourself, the DVD box set is cheap so getting it and watching it wouldn't hurt. Story-wise, I prefer the manga since it's much detailed

What to watch first would be the anime as Veritas siad . And the anime doesnt dilute the quality of manga in Furuba's case

It's easier to fall in love with of most romantic stories by watching the anime first due to the fact that the anime have good soundtracks and they can be handled the right way to increase the effectiveness of mood, settings and emotional scenes.

The ending of Anime Furuba was pretty damn well done, unlike most anime in which the source material hasn't finished yet. Not to mention I think the jokes were much funnier in the anime.

And yeah, btw, I'm very biased as I didn't like the ending couples in the manga. So I try to think of the anime as canon and conveniently forget the manga, but if you like a proper closure then the manga is your best bet since IIRC the anime only covers about half of the volumes or so. Everything is pretty clear cut in the end, so if you're one of the ones who HAS to see the real ending, the manga is the way to go.
