Given the S400's recent counterperformance against the ATACMS, it would make sense to send the ABM-dedicated S500 to Crimea - if only to defend the remaining S300/S400 batteries still stationed there from the Ukrainian ballistic missile threat. For now it's there to protect the Kerch bridge from ATACMS, Hrim-2s (current production status unknown) and the last couple of Tochka-Us still in Ukrainian inventory (if any; they've probably been all used up).
That said, claims about the S500's special unicorn performance should be taken with a grain of salt; the S500 system has been massively delayed (and I think the first Russian unit to receive said it didn't meet full expectations/requirements) and a single battery costs two arms, a leg and a liver. Production was also severely hampered by Western sanctions, so...if the S500 goes up in flames, that's gonna be one big black eye on Russia's face as there are very, very few of these lying around...

I heard that it's suppose to be $2.5 billion to get one made. Also hearing that only one was made as a production model.
And the Russians want to market this to their partner countries like India (and maybe the Central Asian countries).

So...if Ukraine does a multilayered smurf attack on the S500 using MALDs, small drones, Storm Shadows then ATACMS, the S500 could be in for a world of pain. Quote:

CNA analysis on who in SEA is not going/going to Bern. Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor and Indonesia going. Those who aren't going: Cambodia - Not pleased Moscow is not attending. In the “Cambodia’s Foreign Policy in the ASEAN Context” Discussion Forum, Secretary of State and Senior Official of Cambodia Kung Phoak stressed the decision was not related to Cambodia’s stand on the war. Malaysia - PM Anwar more outspoken about what's happening in Israel/Gaza than what's happening in Eastern Europe. Vietnam - Neutral. Want to commit to Bamboo diplomacy. Myanmar - Besties with Russia. Laos - Besties with Russia. Brunei - Likely to not attend. No official response.

If NK troops die in Ukraine, fine by them. Also, more NK ammo expended in Ukraine means less ammo left north of the DMZ separating the two Koreas. NK loaning troops to Russia doesn't give SK any moral obligation to mirror their nemesis' move. No security treaty to compel them, either. And public opinion in SK would probably make mincemeat out of their President for sending troops to risk their lives in a far-flung country while there is an arguably bigger threat just north of them that demands maximum vigilance; the recent NK incursions through the DMZ will further reinforce calls to keep troops home. A contingent of SK troops for a peacekeeping mission would be fine, but participating in a shooting war? Haha no. If anything, SK's decision to start selling/donating/loaning materiel to Ukraine would - aside, of course, from constituting a tit-for-tat to NK's dealings with Russia - merely be done with the intention of bolstering and advertising their own military industry, which has grown significantly (Poland, for one, is expected to double its number of K2/K2PLs). In other words, it's not the plight of the Ukrainians that would move South Korea to start pumping more of their tanks, howitzers and rocket launchers into Western Europe...it's the potential business opportunities that will come thereafter.

Indeed. But let's go with this train of thought. Every NK artillery piece sold to russia is one less piece of ammo in their arsenal to shot towards SK. By the same token, every NK soldier killed/maimed in Ukraine cannot be replaced like normal ammunition. If NK uses artillery, it would land on Ukraine, not SK soil. Yeah, there would be casualties on the SK side, but the ratio would be easily 5:1 since they are better equiped, trained and can give of pieces of territory without having their backs to the sea in no time. What is more, killed NK soldiers will most likely not have offspring, so even if there is no war between the Koreas in a generation, it would still have effects down the line.

Supposed evidence that cluster munitions are used to take out the lone S-500. People are waiting for confirmation.

Well, if true, it only took two weeks for the spanking brand new S500 to get blyatified. Ouch.
Just the loss of a radar or the battery control center would be enough for a mission kill.
