Damn, what a cliffhanger! I don't see any way out of this for Chiaki, unless Izuru has a mental breakdown upon remembering her, but I'd say that's more likely to happen after he kills her. Izuru is way too OP, even Nagito's luck is nothing in front of his own. There's really nothing Chisa can do here. Either she'll manage to escape thanks to Chiaki sacrificing herself (unlikely if she sees Junko), or she'll get brainwashed as well.

Mikan turned out to be the first to be converted to despair. It happened pretty fast. She became ridiculously erotic.

Was rather amused that this is pretty much all Nagito's fault once again. How did he find out about Junko and Mukuro? He even seems to know about Peko killing what's her name, since I doubt she would have agreed to help unless he blackmailed her. Nobody likes Nagito, after all.

Oh boy, Juzo can't reach Chisa on the phone, and unless someone intervenes fast she's going to have a fateful encounter face to face with Junko!

I don't think Nanami is going to die right here and now. The stage isn't set for that. As for Kamukura falling into despair, what we've seen of Despair!Kamukura really does not seem all that different from how he is now. Similar to Komaeda really.

As for Tsumiki, I don't think it's complicated what Enoshima did to her. Her self image is already so warped that she thinks everyone hates her. Enoshima just had to humor her by genuinely treating her like shit. Yet still being 'nice' to her.

Is it really that girl who Pekoyama killed? She's a yakuza, it could literally have been anyone.

So Mikan is the first one to fall into despair already eh? Though Junko said it wasn't a perfect brainwashing in her case and that's why she needs Ryota's skills to make it work for everyone else.

Also Nagito was brilliantly prepared for that situation despite not actually knowing everything about what was going on. Just to be expected from him and his luck I guess.

Something big is gonna happen next week. Will Chiaki be killed perhaps? I guess we'll see.

I can see why Ryota later decided to enroll in the ranks of the Future Foundation. The admiration he professes towards Naegi was probably what prompted him to make the step, but based on the events of this episode you can pretty much tell he's going to be the unwitting bringer of despair over Class-77.

And thus falls the myth that it was Junko herself who got them to her side, when in reality it was that brainwashing program the real cause of everything. Not that we couldn't tell, with all the remnants displaying crimson red eyes.

the uber lol would be if she was the mastermind of Mirai
Still thinking its Chisa though.

It's no wonder Mikan was the first to fall. She kept worrying about Mitarai's health condition and would come to his place every day. Eventually, she ended up stumbling upon Junko and being literally held captive.

The remaining episodes are going to be painful to watch. The thought of seeing a class of blessed highschool students turning into a brainwashed gathering of psychos isn't pleasant.

I wonder for how long has been Ryota harboring that feeling of guilt in Side: Future.

Izuru is more broken that I thought. To think that he has GOD luck too?

HOWEVER, maybe it is Nagito's luck that allowed everything to happen this way. THis could be Nagito's conversion to despair, he did see the Ultimate Hope.

Spoiler for Future and despair:
Doubtful Chiaki would die "again" before meeting Hinata.

I think Izuru hesitates to kill her, but Junko finishes the job, all while fully witnessed by Chisa.

How Komaeda knew of Junko's plan or her secret location is still a mystery.

Damn, Junko really knows how to break someone. It's scary to even think about it.

Spoiler for Future and despair:
Imho its more likely that Chisa's corpse in Mirai is actually a fake at some point. Especially considering her outbusrst during the Narration and how the Knife in her chest was mysteriously missing when Munataka came back to the corpse.

Is she really that scary though? I'm not so sure. Yes she knows how to blackmail people into doing what she wants, which is fair enough. But the image of her being a master manipulator, able to use a person's hopes, fears and dreams to entice them to despair (that I think most of the fandom had), has taken a big hit with this episode. She hasn't actually done anything herself, only strong-armed others into doing work for her (Mitarai's brain-washing techniques for instance), which makes her look more like a bully than a mastermind.

Chiaki is so dead now. The whole reason DR1 happened was because nobody at school knew about Junko and Mukuro's involvement in this mess. Which means Chiaki won't live to tell anyone about what she saw and heard in this episode.

However, this raises a different question: why didn't Nagito and Ryota tell others? Maybe Junko will ask Matsuda to tamper with their memories. Which, now that I think about it, gives Chiaki a chance to survive.

Apparently, a section of the fandom shipped Junko and Mikan, because of what the later did in SDR: Goodbye Despair. They thought Mikan's love and devotion to Junko was sincere and genuine.

But after the reveal that Junko had actually brainwashed her by using someone else's tool and not her cunning and persuasion ability, combined with the very disturbing depiction, the pairing's popularity has been shot down with a harpoon.

Honestly, what were they expecting? Every member of Ultimate Despair displays red crimson colored eyes. If that isn't enough of a sign they are not being themselves for you, that they have actually been mindscrewed hard, maybe even had some of their memories wiped off, I don't know what exactly were they thinking.

The mutual killing video hasn't really been edited yet... Junko dedicated a Powerpoint to that fact. Mikan likely just got in touch with her sadist side.

Actually, is a combination of two facts.

1. Mikan's shitty life and a sadistic side.

2. A video that shows a bunch of people killing each other. Exactly the last thing the already frail nurse needed, have her depravity completely awakened. Being also mentally weak, she was the easiest target for Junko.

The most disturbing part? The video isn't using any of Ryota's sounds or colors, or conveying any message. But Junko included that song in the video she made.

No matter how you want to spin, this has only one possible definition, and is brainwashing.

I get the impression I'm probably in the minority here in thinking despair!Mikan is freaking awesome so far...

As far as the ship I dunno much about it but I dunno what people were expecting... but Junko isn't the type to crush a pair of glasses into just anyone's ass.

Anyway Mikan made a huge deal about Imposter trusting her; now Junko has effectively made her inner circle. That's probably far more meaningful than any 'brainwashing' in this case.
