I like this kind of open-mindness / 'fan-service', and it makes me want to support their work even more by bying the DVDs. I hope plenty of others do the same to show that company don't necessarily need to act all greedy to get profits. Or maybe it's allowed there because they are too lazy to moderate Last edited by Murade; 2006-07-12 at 08:48. |

Whee, more self-important dragging of threads from their rotting graves...
Thanks to NeoSam for the heads up, looks like they really did decide to make a 3rd season of GITS:SAC. From their English site. Solid State Society? Huh. Seriously though, I really really hope they make it better than 2nd GIG, I felt that there were a number of somewhat contrived episodes and lots of chatter trying to make itself seem smarter than it really is. I do hope they get somewhat better animators too o_o More Tetsuya Nishio plskthx. EDIT: AND IT BETTER HAVE (more) TACHIKOMA OR I'M GOING TO BE MAD! Grr. Shousa~

It's not 3rd Gig, just as SAC wasn't "The 1st Gig".
First season: "Stand Alone Complex". Second season: "SAC 2nd Gig". Third season: "Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society". "2nd Gig" is just a name of the season, it's not the numeration. A lot of people seem to confuse this matter. Good news, but if you scroll back a bit, not such news at all. Ishikawa already talked about it a year ago. But it's a first official press-release. |

But Production I.G. sure has been throwing themselves into lots of projects recently, haven't they... I feel a bit like they're selling out, doing stuff like Blood+ and IGPX. Where's the moody but brilliantly done films that weren't commercially viable locally? Meh.
Though I'd take Season 3 of GITS over a moe show anyday! They're showing a trailer at the Anime Fair thingamajiggy in Tokyo... As much as I don't mind GITS I hope it's not this season. They've still got Blood+ (albeit being subcontracted to a lot of other studios) and the upcoming XXXHolic TV series. They can take a whole year to plan the story and I'd be happier... EDIT: Sorry for being a twat, but 7th pointed out that it's actually not a TV series, it's a movie, according to Bandai Visual. It's planned to be 100-minute long film, expected to be finished in Summer 2006. This changes things very much. I won't mind seeing this - though I guess we won't necessarily get the animation level of the existing GITS movies, I've always wanted to see the SAC storyline in a movie kind of format.

i have a question
i have the first season of Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex.. but is it all the same ? with that i mean that in every episode they solve something new... but it doesnt have much effect later on in the series (i havent watched the complete first season yet), i havent seen any character development, only the tough coppers atitude and the solve thinsg that are different every week is the second season like that too ? or will there be some character development at the end of the season, with a storyline that finally goes into something big.. one epsidoe they solve somehting, next week they solve something else.. it goes on and on but there's no real drama and tension between the characters |

2nd GiG has the same thing going on, though with different names (which escape me at the moment). I've only seen the first four eps--too broke to buy more yet--but it looks like it's even better than the first season. |
