On the contrary, since the Russian embassy isn't making any sort of visible protest, it appears that Russia started making defective satellites since the disbandment of USSR. *facepalm* |

I don't know where this fit -- here or at the Silly News thread -- but looks like that other H-games in Amazon are in the possibility of being red-flagged after this news came up:

well... ya gotta wonder about the brilliance of the game title. But otoh.. is Amazon going to take down all their books that involve horrible crimes, serial murder, torture, rape, mutilation? Why was a piece of software different? Don't get me started on the toxic crap movies they happily sell
I wonder if they have any idea what amazon.co.jp sells...

I would slightly disagree. Immediate visual depiction of someone's getting raped tend to leave more of an undesiring affect on most people which wouldn't be as bothering if they read about the same event and then tried to visualize via imagination. To be a bit more blunt, it's like watching a horrifying decapitation videos in Iraq instead of reading about it in the newspaper. I would imagine that when more senses (vision, hearing, taste, etc) are involved at intaking information, the impact or after-affect of such information is more complete for most people.

A rational excuse for taking it down might have been that it was unrated software and Amazon doesn't do unrated software or movies either? Just getting the feeling that it being software, they were reacting inconsistently.

Ooops! When you bolded books I thought you were making a comparison. I see what you are saying now. I think it has more to do with the title which you've already made similar observation to. Lol at Rape Play. They say, "sex sells."

I guess those looking for rape games on Amazon.com will just have to settle for Hitomi: My Stepsister (Yes, it's a rape game. Goes well beyond vanilla rape if the reviews are to be believed too.) and Tsuki: Possession.

It'S possible than the problem with the game ir than they are interactive. With all those books and movie than they sells happily, the customers are passive insted. That might be doing a difference.

^Manhunt, and other similar video games, can be found on Amazon, and those games have the player-character actively murdering people for very little reason (i.e. there is a negligible difference between an interactive rape game and a (mostly) interactive death game (I say mostly because games like Manhunt at least create the facsimile of a story that allows the constant murder to be viewed as slightly acceptable (within the confines of the game it is acceptable) whereas rape games never have a reason for allowing the rape to occur (not that any reason would ever be acceptable))).
That being said, due to the sheer non-reality of the games (the games have literally no basis in reality), I see no reason why Amazon cannot sell them. |

I'm not talking about effects on the player as opposed to viewer.... I'm simply saying that there's a diffrence between a passive medium and an active one, and can't really be lumped together. Video game != books and films Whether there's a diffrence in perception of the viewer/player is totally another issue, and I didn't even attempt to touch that one. Subject here is merchants distinguishing the forms of mediums, and deciding what to and not to carry. Not a scientific study on effects of these mediums.
