This manga woudnt get any prize for being original but personally i found it pretty entertaining. I hope it doesnt get discontinued >.<

The difference between this manga and american zombie movies is that the characters are much better elaborated and you dont need to suffer the bad quality of low budget zombie movies xD

As of this moment, it's still on hold for some odd reason, although the illustrator is currently working on an ongoing project. Furthermore, as far as the "movie" adaptation is concerned, despite the announcement some months back it's still probably in planning stages. Makes me actually wonder if they make it an OVA or a live-action feature.

Whatever the reason, I applaud the writer for a very well-though-out story and some attention to detail; with much military hardware it's almost a technothriller.

Scenario:
Let's see... I'm suspecting that this Shido pond scum must be a part of a secret doomsday cult organization responsible for the outbreak and the creation of the biological agent responsible for the zombie infestation.

Why? IMHO, the outbreak itself is so sudden and well-coordinated to attack most populated urban areas, and even the highest echelons of government and military (especially the United States and other major powers, hence the infestation attack even on Air Force One and a US Navy guided missile destroyer), and to precipitate a fateful decision to use weapons of mass destruction to further the doomsday goal (shades of Jericho and Amerika, hence the EMP blackout?). All that in a space of just two days, catching everyone with their pants down (and then most of their necks bitten away).

Once most of civilization is taken down to the Stone Age, the system of government reduced to mere villages (or protected survivalist enclaves), and the zombies destroy themselves by cannibalism and decomposition (leaving a lingering stench to rival Rwanda), this cultist group will attempt to take over the vacuum left behind as they obtain gullible live followers out of the wreck.

Well, the only left standing between them and world domination are the survivors, especially that Takashi's "Doomsday Club"* could find out what really happened and hopefully, stop this cult.
Well first,i dont think our highschool club will be getting near any evil organization... and i dont think you can call this situation a good plan to conquer the world >.<

This author has quit a lot of his previous projects. I am not surprised this one was dropped too. He is a hentai artist, and I guess he can't do much out of porn and create long stories.

I though his art looked familiar, it's a shame that they canceled the manga.

I liked this Manga, it was like dawn of the dead... with more tits.

To be honest, his art was probably the only thing keeping the series afloat, but considering his hentai background I was decently impressed with his attempt at story. He was at least trying to make it engaging.

I would like to see one of his series succeed, the art is great, and he does show potential.

1. he needs to do more hentai

2. anyone can point to some of his earlier h-works, purely for research.

3. he needs to find a partner to work on the story side.

Eh, I was never really into the drawings of the people, but I am not really into drawings for attraction anyways. I enjoyed his infected drawings, and his story wasn't half bad. The way it was progressing, the story would have quickly become international. Many nations were mentioned and somewhere back in the story I am pretty sure I remember one of them saying we need to leave Japan. Who can blame them. 128 million on a very small island chain. That is a LOT of infected.

i think his scope was too big with the international stuff. he should have kept in japan and made it sort of a survival series moving form place to place avoiding zombies and pretty girls

That would have got old fast, plus food reserves would have eventually died out. They would have eventually had to of evacuated.

The series is not canceled. It is still officially on hiatus.

The artist (Shouji Sato) is also not the one to blame for the hiatus; that's the writer's (Daisuke Sato's) fault. Although the images don't make it online, Shouji Sato still does color features with Highschool of the Dead characters every month for the magazine the series ran in. Shouji Sato is working on a couple other series now, but let's be fair: he'd be out of the job if he wasn't, and they're not half bad anyway if you ask me.

well i didn't expect HSotD to go 20vols anyway. A 7 to 10 vol of Mad Max + Day of the Dead was kind of what i was expecting.

Thank you for the clear up and I'll wait for it's next chapter. But chances are it'll be a long wait.

I paid 40 bucks total brand new for the set, from my local japanese book store. Man they were hard to get since I bought them as they were released. As a big fan I had to get them.
