Was I the only one expect Miss Kobayashi to be hit by an electricity utility bill with three or more extra zeroes than usual? I mean, after that DBZ level fight there is no way that KannaĦs manna consumption is the equivalent of a dishwasher.

It is good that miss Kobayashi would not win any miss charisma contest since Tohru will murder (and probably eat the carcass) of any female with any level of skinship in mind

Dragon Maid Manga to Anime Pacing Update:

Episode 2 – Chapters 5, 6, 9, and 7 in that order.

They can easily keep this pace up for the rest of the series save for the few double length chapters. There are around 60 some chapters released so far so they easily have enough material for 14 + OVA worth of content without padding.

Kanna is so cute! Cute!

Oh right, I haven't posted here before. I've been very pleasantly surprised by this series so far, quite literally from the get go; The dragon theme being used for both the character based moments and the comedy gives it a distinctive feel, and all the characters so far are quite likable. I'm also surprised, from this latest episode, that this seems to be more of a good feel series than expected, since, even if there's comedy, it was the heartfelt moments that caught my attention the most, specially Tohru and Kanna's exchange at the end. Such an adorable little dragon

Next week, the winged snake arrives, and brings some Senran-tier heavy artillery with her

I started to wonder whether this series is effectively a reverse isekai, despite knowing Cool-kyou, it may not be that intentional. You see, the dragons' dimension does look like a standard medieval fantasy setting...

not sure why Kanna reminds me of Renge Miyauchi from Non Non Biyori.

Yes, not the only one.

Quite mysterious that, really, but briefly giving me welcome flashbacks before getting back into the story and thus not really distracting from what the episode and the series appears to be aiming for.

That was an interesting observation. Concerns for Kobayashi's electricity bill didn't occur to me - but what you wrote makes Kanna's recharging funnier still. It also seems in character for Kobayashi to look at it the way you do but perhaps she just accepts it as one of the unforeseen consequences of her incredible hospitality.

Episode 2

KyoAni going all out with that animation. Tohru smacking down the purse snatcher and then Tohru "playing around" with the loli dragon. That looked sugoi.

While this looks like it'll only be a comedy show, there are those moments about Tohru's past. Like how she felt scared when everyone was staring at her after she smacked down the purse snatcher. She thought that everyone thinks that she's a monster and all those who were nice to her will want nothing to do with her and she would end up being lonely or something. It is possible that Tohru was about to be killed by humans with whom she wanted to be friends with. Or something along those lines. Kobayashi doesn't want to ask Tohru about that because it's a sensitive topic and she's not sure if Tohru would want to remember those memories or something.

The comedy was pretty nice overall. There were some meh moments in between but I think they're doing nicely overall with being funny. Lol when Tohru was giving the dragon loli a tour of the town and told her that cars run on magic and that seesaws are used for training kids to use catapults to kill dragons. Lol that hard-core see-sawing in the end.

It is very likely the case, if humans are slaying dragons in that universe and she'd be killed if not for Tohru.

Do remember that humans are, in Tohru's eyes, foolish inferior creatures, with the exception of Kobayashi. She's never really had an interest in being friends with them, because they're beneath her, as far as she's concerned.

It's kind of surprising how the action turned to be more engaging than anything the studio did before like MnFW or the saddly reminded KnK.

And sad part is, this isn't even an action oriented show but a comedy .

Apparently humans in their world can do a few of those tricks they were showing off, so they're definitely much more dangerous than in this world. However, Tohru probably respects the humans here much more, exactly because they talk to her instead of trying to kill her.

I never thought I'll be further impressed by what Kyoani can animate, but really, in every new series, I see them outdoing themselves.

How is this possible?

The other world is pretty much depicted as the classic Fantasy RPG world where magic is dominant and pretty much every Human can use some form of "Skill" or "Magic".
And this also supports the theory that otherworld summons is possible... maybe we'll get to see Kobayashi going to the other world and watch the dragons go nuts, LOL
Well... besides the fact this world doesn't have enough mana for the Dragons to travel between the world by themselves. (so even if Kobayashi gets send to the other world, the Dragons probably can't follow)

PS: Loli Dragon is cute. I want a Loli Dragon now.

Maybe I'm too old and you've probably considered this but ... to me the word classic in connection to the other world and the dragons who inhabit both dimensions etc can refer to fairy tales and mythological stories themselves, directly. That's how I understand the word classic. Classic stories predating the era of RPGs.

These tales of folklore have been used for game settings as well but games aren't necessarily the frame of reference for the author nor the animators nor the only source for assigning mythical, magical, powers to people within mythical stories. Foundational stories and -possibly- indicators of how things used to be, in them good olde days...
