The original 1st season broadcast had those dumb borders but people complained and funimation changed them to straight black.

Maybe this time around they'll leave them out. Still spring 08 is a long time to wait. My guess April.

Oh wow! This is great news in my opinion. I'm tempted to go read the manga now but I'm going to try really hard to resist. I just hope the music stays good.

Hmm. The Delgados, the band which performed The Light Before We Land and Woke From Dreaming, split up in 2005 though. Considering the relevance of the emotions and meaning of the opening song, I wouldn't mind if they reused last season's. They could cycle through portions of the song throughout the season just to let the viewers hear it all.

I don't know about you, but I'd hate an eurobeat remix of The Light Before We Land... which is in the way most songs end up when they're reused for a following season :S

I'd prefer they keep it original. Besides, what OTHER Canadian band has had their music featured in an anime?

GO CANADA!

Wow, a complete overhaul of cast and production team. For starters, Henrietta is no longer played by Yuuka Nanri and they have Takehito Koyasu to play Jean.

Replacing the entire cast and staff, I wonder why, or maybe they were just unavailable for this project. Well, the mangaka seems to take a bigger role in this one.
And loved Kou Ootani's music in Haibane Renmei.

I admit I thought the male voice cast was a bit weak in Gunslinger Girl this one seems better (Koyasu Takehito ftw). Female cast is pretty much unknown though I'm going to miss Koshimizu Ami as Claes.

I'm more concerned about the choice of animation studio (Artland) than anything else.

Exactly. Recent anime from Artland are good, if not very good (Mushishi), manga adaptation.
My only concern is that... the previous staff has done an excellent job with the series (which is, in some part, better than the original).

Hm, I'm not so sure about how changing most of the staff might help, but I'm still looked forward to it. Like Woland said, I rated the first series 9/10 and indeed the previous staff did an excellent job. I also love Mushishi, so let's all hope for the best.

Just noticed the update about the cast. So the biggest mystery of 1st season solved.

ANGELICA IS ALIVE!!

Not I hope she die or anything. Just being alive somehow weakens the ending of 1st season. But I like her, so it is OK for me.
