What is a rush?

Quite simply it is one of the native traditions of the 2ch existence of Saimoe... it is a fun way to interact with other like-minded fans to show support for some cause. Most rushes are based on a single character or series. One of the main goals it to make an unbroken series of posts in 2ch, which is pretty easy in the first rounds but becomes more and more difficult as the tournament progresses, so timing is important! The AnimeSuki rush is a rush more to show the support of English speaking fans of some of the traditions of the Saimoe. It was started by todkapuz and ando during Saimoe 2007 and ran strong for the first two years but is essentially dead at this point, in part due to 2ch bans on foreign IPs. Even if you aren't voting at the time of the rush for whatever reason, you are still encouraged to participate.

See this post for an example of a rush. Note the 2-part challenge rush of Nagisa--coordinating these combo posts with someone else can be quite tricky but also fun.
Use the time at http://www3.nict.go.jp/cgi-bin/JST_E.pl! No really, this is important. Proper rushing requires precise posting, to the second, so it is important for everyone to be looking at the same clock.

This is going of a Google translation but it seems you needs to add a sentence supporting your character for your vote to be valid. Can someone confirm this? If it's true, does English or other languages count or does it have to be in Japanese?

If this is true, I doubt non-Japanese moe-bun won't count towards this requirement, unless they're upping the pressure.

Before, they said that adding moe-bun was encouraged because it added to the competitive atmosphere, increasing the srsness of the bsns. To outright require it seems pretty killjoy.

Quote:
●今年は萌え文必須です。...これらの一文がない場合は無効票となります。

Google:● Moe year sentence is mandatory. ...Without these sentence will be invalid ballot.

Me: This year, moe-bun is required. ...Not having moe-bun will result in the vote being faulty.
Seems that it's true. And that sucks.

Maybe they're worried about multi votes getting through. That method would be a good way to weed them out. Though it's likely to reduce vote totals as well, and they've already been decreasing from year to year...

I'm pretty sure moe-bun was required last year too, and possibly the year before.

I don't think having to add "<character name> is <adjective>" to your post will have any effect on multi votes. Even if they are using a script to automate the cheating, it's pretty easy to get it to spit out random simple lines.

I don't believe so. I checked last years rules via Google Translate and I don't seem to see anything about moe-bun being required.

Though the vote without any "moe-bun" is valid, please write it if you can to pump up the game.
"moe-bun" is the message that explains how you love her.
Am looking for more recent definitions.

If it comes to it, I and others could give a few easy sentences like the one TRE mentioned completely in japanese and then list some japanese adjectives so each person fills it with what they want.

This year, moe-bun is required, but they don't require Japanese moe-bun, as far as I see this year's rule, so English moe-bun or ascii art will be OK.

3位 1票 三千院ナギ@ハヤテのごとく!!
3位 1票 桂ヒナギク@ハヤテのごとく!!
3位 1票 瀬川泉@ハヤテのごとく!!

wait, these are Nagi, Hina, and Segawa Izumi if Google translate isn't failing me. Why were they not auto-nominated? Or was someone stupid enough to renominate them. (But then again, 70+ people did exactly that for Misaka in ISML)

they are already in the pre-nomination list, according to this (which examines whether a character passes the nomination or not). It's just that as you said, someone renominated them.
