Yeah, you're right. On one hand, official confirmation trumps all, but on the other hand, the photo from a magazine looks kind of authentic.
The manga has been going on for a while, right? There should be lots of material left. Maybe they'll go for the 24 ep second season, if they do make a second one. |

Manga has 10 vols so far, so plenty can be covered in another season. Im crossing my fingers but I wont truly believe it til ANN or Moon Phase confirms it. I will say a 24 epi 2nd season would be nice though

OK, finished watching it and in the end I must say it has some extremely good parts but also has several major drawbacks.
Excellent music and seiyu work, some of the best and innovative anime art I've seen, and sharp social satire are its strong points. Too much reading text, a lot of the jokes are drawn in the (compared to the general art level) terrible simplified art style and are told instead of being shown - those are the points I found lacking. I think if there was some kind of consistent storyline this anime would've been so much better. In particular, I was very disappointed with episode 12, as the previous one had some interesting story development that could've provided it but the authors just did the reset thing. (Come on, who introduces new characters in the final episode?!) |

... Two or more volumes of the manga could be released by that time.

Students! We have confirmation!
From ANN Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei's 2nd Season in 2008 Confirmed Issue 45 (on sale September 9) of Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine has confirmed that the television anime adaptation of Kōji Kumeta's Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei manga will have a second season in Japan. The high school comedy centers around a pathologically depressed teacher who somehow finds the will to deal with a class of oddball students. The first 12 episodes ran from July to September of this year on Chiba TV and other stations, and the second season is planned for the beginning of 2008. Ten volumes of the manga, which began in 2005, are currently in print. Happy happy joy joy!
