Zero: One does not simply... walk, into checkmate.

Schneizel: Yes you do.

Zero: No! No, you don't! Stop being a fag denka. q_q

Schneizel: I'm only fag for that fellow. *points at Canon-kun* Hur hur hur. After this entertainment you want to join us in the bedroom for some moar "enjoyable entertainment"?

Zero: Nowai! If you're going to walk into a checkmate I'm going to put some moar of my pieces back on the board!

Schneizel: That is a sure fine idea. This. is. GEASSCHESS.

Lets even say that Schniezel did intend to say Your checkmate, It is still wrong! The fact that Lelouch was able to move away proves that it WAS NOT CHECKMATE. CHECKMATE ENDS THE GAME.

I am obviously missing something that others are seeing because if he had said CHECK, then I could say that he is just ignoring the illegality of the move, but saying CHECKMATE was just wrong.

Pure nonsense. Pure and utter nonsense. A player can call himself out on an inevitable checkmate and simply knock over his king if he wishes or continue playing. For instance, I am losing, my king is castle-trapped by pawns and my opponent's queen is in line for a checkmate next turn. Assume that no matter the move I make I cannot stop it. I can very easily, and in all legality say 'it'll be (it's) checkmate' and knock over my king. I can also say 'checkmate' since my opponent is not some brain dead idiot and he will understand that I am acknowledging his checkmate on me. All that is being argued over is formality. I am clearly not making a move that puts my opponent into check or even mate and am simply noting the innevitable fact. Just as I can, turns before I've won, say 'checkmate is innevitable' and my opponent can easily just give up at that point. In fact that's how many games of chess end (without the verbal exchange).

Now in Schneizel's case I'm playing myself into a checkmate scenario where the king is being attacked and should be taken next turn. The opponent, however, does not have to take the king. The game technically ends at that point, as it is mate on the king, but the opponent still has to make his move as the mate did not occur on his turn and the 'loser' did not knock over his king. As such the king may be left alive and left in check, but not mate. Which is what happened.

Also, Schneizel cannot/should not call check on Lelouch as his move is illegal. You cannot illegally, and with blatant intent check a king. There is to note that one must call the more important first, in this case, the checkmate on Schneizel. He calls himself on the checkmate, and not Lelouch on the check on the king.

I like it better when Var and I agree, if I do say so myself

I think you've exhausted your supply of sarcasm for an issue Kaio, just brush this stuff off and play the game to your style and don't let the idiocy of others bring you down

Can't we all just say that Schenzeil was "forfeiting" the game for Lelouch and it was up to him whether or not to accept it?

Well Lelouch refused to accept the forfeit so Kaguya won't get her present.

Though we do know now that the Britannian Emperor is quite an opportunistic man.

yeah but I hope they Make Lulu's character a bit more persistent. So On one hand Lulu's having these sentimental moments imagining simple and happy things with his friends, then he goes and point a gun at a little loli; on another he go to extreme lengths to get what he wants while stay calm most of the time, but then he let pride gets in his way when an opportunity to remove a big obstacle is in his hands! Agr!

Schniezel only put himself in checkmate, not to win the game, but rather to find out what kind of a person Zero was. It wouldve been soo awesome, after Zero removed his king from the field, and then Schniezel called him nii-sama.

@everyone: Anyone want to explain the rules Geasschess or chess MK II?

Maybe, through Schneizel can't call him that since "nii-sama" means "older brother" and last I checked Lelouch was his younger brother, so he'd have to use something else instead
