Now all it has to be is two cours and we might get something decent out of this.

the curse of "chaos" series continues. But let's hope it's actually split cour anyway.

From the little animation we got I am digging this. Sadly it was a poorly cut PV. Either way I am excited since I love SL and the director seems to be one of Oonuma's protege.

Episode zero is pretty much Chaos Head in 20 mins. Which is a lot cut out, but at least it wasn't the same footage from the original series. Which is good, since Rimi looks so cute in her 'new old look'. Shame she didn't make her do her trademark 'Bishi!' catchphrase though, but I'm not going to say no to more 'I thought she was MC's childhood friend but she really wasn't even though she acts like one' main heroine of C;H. XD

As for Chaos Child, I'm loving Nono much more so than Serika, despite both being actual childhood friends of MC this time. (THANK YOU Nitroplus!) Which is weird actually, since he calls both of them by their last names. Well in any case, I actually adore Nono's worry of Takuru's well being, since well, it reminds me a lot of Rimi. Serika on the other hand is so far just the 'yes man', but going by she had the scoop of the latest murder, I'm pretty sure there's more to her character than what can be shown in an episode.

Over all, very strong pilot episode, but I can't say it impressed me more than Kuzu no Honkai's. Sitting solidly at my 2nd favourite pilot, and looking at what hasn't aired yet, will probably stay so. So at least that's saying something, even though this series has a lot of similarity with its prequel.

They almost didn't have anything to do with the original game though. They've only collaborated with 5pb. for the development of Chaos;Head/Steins;Gate and partially Robotics;Notes.

Episode 0 is pretty much a recap of Chaos;Head (which works much better than the original anime series) so nope.

That moment when a 20 minute Chaos;head recap by Silverlink is thousandfold better than a 12 episode Madhouse "adaptation".

Episode 1
The actual Chaos Child episode also was very enjoyable. Some of the scenes the way they were set were literally lifted out of the actual VN which was beautiful to see.

Its mostly "stand alone". You could play the chaos;head VN since its almost as brilliant as Steins;Gate, but whatever you do DONOT touch the madhouse "adaptation" that came out years ago. That was just....bad.

What is that text under the opening logo supposed to mean? Like when it has Chaos;Child and then some nonsensical engrish under it? Surely that's not subbed in but actually there in the raw as well?

Wtf is a noid?

edit: Well after watching the recap at the start, I can safely say that I still have no fucking idea about .. well, anything in that anime. I've watched the original adaptation too, and it was awful, and very confusing. This adaptation may have been "better" despite being crammed into 20 minutes, but I still don't understand any of it. Probably the most confusing anime that I've literally ever watched :x. Since Chaos;Child ties into that anime somehow would be nice to understand the original premise but ugh ..

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that.

Anyway I enjoyed the actual first episode, but seeing how its one cour and this VN is even longer than Chaos Head I'm not expecting much.

Yeah, can safely say I don't understand much of anything in that 40+ minute span spent watching this first episode . It did do a solid job condensing a confusing 12 episode anime down to a confusion 20 minutes with the same amount of understanding gained . But it wasn't like the technical first episode for Chaos Child was any more clear.

So...the MC from Chaos;Head had a really unfortunate set of days...then an earthquake struck and they all died? Well...that's unfortunate.

And yeah...what is a noid ? Somehow I don't think they mean the Domino's Pizza mascot from the 80s (thanks Google). Unless of course somehow Dominos Pizza is deeply connected to the truth of this anime .

Eh, I guess I must be one of the few people who actually liked the Chaos Head adaptation. I mean sure, it's definitely flawed and the characters looked butt-ugly compared to the VN or even in this adaptation, but it told the story just fine.

Then again, I'm one of the few who actually liked the Tsukihime adaptation, and that's saying something as there's like three childhood friends in that show. (Man if I knew Akiha had her own route at that time, I bet I would have lambasted that show like everyone else lol)

@IBY
You mean Nitroplus and 5bp aren't the same? Hmm weird, I kinda just lump them together. In any case, I'm just thankful to whoever that they made Nono and Serika childhood friends to the MC, since IMO Rimi was pretty much one in all but name already. XD

They are completely different: first is developing (mostly) erotic visual novels for PC while the second is developing visual novels for consoles (and lately quite a lot of them are based on the anime series).

its a science adventure franchise tradition. Steins;Gate, Chaos;Head, etc pretty much all titles in series have that. It may be engrish but it is not nonsensical its thematic for the story in question. For reference:

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?

This franchise has some of the most elaborate and most meaningful title designs with tons of stuff hidden inside the logos.
