Loved the action on the first ep. This series is a big surprise for me!

Serenade: He's always been that powerful, however in the main series he was pretty much dicking around with Minamoto. There's very little of that here though, as it's focused entirely on Pandra.

Yeah, Hyoubu goes full Magneto here:

From what I heard, the author of ZKC wrote this spin-off for the anime. If that's true, then Hyoubu's UNLIMITED is canon.
Also, that "third eye" is the bullet scar on his forehead.

Episode 1:

This felt like an entirely different story. Well, Hyoubu is pretty much the angstiest character in the entire series, so I guess I should have seen that one coming. Still, it takes itself a bit too seriously for my taste. And from the looks of it, this is going to be a bit of sausagefest.

On the other hand, this spin-off is a good opportunity to develop his character further. By watching this, perhaps we can see a bit of what makes him tick. He's such a dark character compared to the rest of the cast that I think he deserve a bit more time to shine. Even Fujiko never turned out like this.

So, uh, for any manga readers here, would this spin-off be the long-alluded new ZKC anime adaptation? If so, I'd be a bit disappointed.

Yes. Even Minamoto reacted in surprise in one of the recent comics (I think go back at least a month), and not in the 4komas to boot, but at the START OF THE CHAPTER. A bit of 4th-wall breaking there. :P

Huh. I must have missed that somewhere.

Well that makes me sad. I have a feeling that this won't be anywhere as fun as the main series. But given what I've already seen of this spin-off, that's pretty much the point of it. I wish this show could at least show some sense of humor every now and then.

I loved episode 1 and never saw ZKC. It's a rare thing to see a series that is rooting for the "bad guy" from the anime society's standpoint to win.

It also showed some nice fights which I love to see.

I didn't continue ZKC after watching the first episode a long time ago, but I'll be following this. Chuunibyou guys throwing their powers around with a loli around to balance things out. Might be some great fun.

The problem with ZKC was that it start slow....
(There is more than 300+ chapter out...)

Rather than starting out slow, I remember the villain in the first episode being 100% comedy, but not that funny to me personally.

Oh wow. I had no idea what to expect when I watched ep 1. But that was pretty ... well ... cool, for lack of a better word. :\

Totally did not expect I would enjoy something like that.

Hmm ... I may continue checking this one out some more.

I did enjoy the Momiji fanservice at the start of the episode, and the appearance of Minamoto hints at something I'm slightly more familiar with. Though Kaoru, Aoi and Shiho aren't with him at the moment. I do think the stuff when Kyosuke activates his Unlimited Mode is kinda cool, but otherwise, I don't have much to say about this episode.

I just finished watching the first episode. Wow, that was very good! Is this a fluke, a one episode kind of deal? I couldn't sit through Karen Children more than the first 8 episodes. When I went to watch the first episode, skeptically at first, I didn't expect so much very well animated action scenes along with such a good presentation of fairly decent plot fit into a 20 minutes time slot. I'll be looking forward to the 2nd episode even if it isn't as much action packed as the first. As long as the story flows well like the first episode, I'll be back for more.

The highlight of the episode was every time that loli said, "Shousa" I practically went "uguuuuuuuuu."

She is so adorable!
