No, Shiki was announced to be 22 episodes before it began to air.

Well then its either because the directors need a break from animating. Or they just want to throw in a few surprises for us in October. Or its probably due to other reasons I don't know

yeah, but depending on how the show goes she may get a pass cus he might understand how they mind fuck ppl into killing since even his best friend is trying to kill him now. I guess it all comes down to if they want to reform and join up with him if. I am not sure how its gonna end, i could see a few possibilities with even him just killing himself after he kills the rest, or he manages to reform some of them and they kill off the bad ones and just find other ways to live quietly.

Actually it's because both two season shows are 24/26 episodes, so Shiki only being 22 means they need to fill up the space in the episode slots, so they'll take a three week break now instead of at the end of the series.

Or that they only bought/negotiated for 22 slots, with the Fuji TV break set at this time in the first place...(because there's usually a 2-3 week break between noitaminA series, which typically last one cour).
