did Aladdin lost his memory? he seems not knowing what is magi

so Aladdin can also use magic, did he picked up that stone staff in the dungeon? i may have missed that

apart from a few things i dont understand well, eps 3 is quite nice

It probably doesn't help that crunchyroll made several translation mistakes in the first episode.
For example, neither Ugo-kun or Alibaba ever say "magi" in the first episode.
They said magicians (or wizard, however you like it).
But the translator who is probably not aware that magi and magicians are different things, translated it as "magi".

The word "magi" is first uttered by Jamil, and later by Amon in episode 3.

A magi is a great magician, but a magician is not a magi.
Unlike magi, which are extremely special beings, there are number of magicians.

It seems to me that these "Magi" are literally Merlins. Selecting and assisting kings. Magic-users just use boring ol' magic.

Well hopefully Alibaba has some better luck than Arthur.

Like I said previously it reminds me a bit of the 1940's Thief of Bagdad film. Although the main character wasn't a magician per say he helped the rightful prince become king with some magic and again it was very much about the friendship between the two characters.

Ah, there we go, it took me 3 episodes to get to like Aladdin. I still think Alibaba's cooler, though. Speaking of, that sure was some fancy swordplay. He's definitely royalty.

Wow that was some twist at the end of this ep. That was Game of Thrones and Dexter level trolling. T.T

My favorite so far. I definitely didn't expect this anime to go in the direction it has but it's awesome regardless. Looks like the power struggles in this story will be something worth watching.

In other news, ED嫌い or "I hate (the) ED" became a trending topic on twitter Japan not long after this week's episode aired. Seemed like many were puzzled at first but came to the conclusion that it referred to Magi's ED given the timing. People are now using that same term to express their dislike of the ED.

Can't blame them considering the song itself is already... meh, but having it play this episode was just unfitting. lol

Rest assured this has nothing to do with hatred toward a certain ED from another show. How can anyone even hate him?

That what worried me the most about this episode, where was they planning to play the ED song. At least it wasn't as bad I thought it would be.
