I thought this was a pretty enjoyable first episode.

Bakuten just ended with its 12th and final episode. This is simple textbook feel-good sports anime. It is generic but it is very well executed. There is use of CG but it is used where it made sense and made very good impact - the rhythmic gymnastics floor performances. We were graced by 2 exceptional performances shown in the 11th episode and 1 in the 6th episode, besides the first episode which introduced the show to us.

Since it is a sausage-fest, it is obviously targeting of the ladies, fujoshis and fudanshis. Credit to the show that if you are not looking for it, there is nothing much to notice, unless of course you are a fujoshi/fudanshi and will see subtext where you want to.

Overall, a pleasant, clean and non-obnoxious show which I'll probably rewatch Episodes 6 and 11 for the well animated floor performances.
