Devastating news. Atsuko Tanaka, known for a wealth of iconic roles including Major Motoko Kusanagi and Bayonetta, passed away today at the age of 61. She had been receiving treatment over the past year for an illness that remains undisclosed as per her wishes.

Oof. She played Caster Medea as well as Carmilla and Jing Ke in FGO. She was recently in Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic too, which is getting a second season.
And I believe this was the first time we knew of Tanaka Hikaru being her son. From the tweet he says he's sorry to have only just mentioned his relation to her just as she passed away.

This...this is an utter gut punch. I just don't know how to process this.

She always had such a mature, commanding, and even sensual presence to her voice and imbued that so well into so many characters.

RIP Atsuko Tanaka. Thank you for all the wonderful characters you brought to life.

Shinohara Emi dies at age 61 (yup, another 60s)
Most known for her role as the original Sailor Jupiter
Reason of death is not announced, but she's been using a ventilator and wheelchair relatively recently and has not been well for some time

She was Naruto's mom, Sakura Kinomoto's supportive teacher, Misako Mikoto's mom, but most of all the Sailor Guardian who embodied the ideal that you could be strong and feminine. And in each role she conveyed so much personality, strength, and love into them.

RIP Emi Shinohara.
