Ah, the age old problem...should I focus on my studies or watch anime? And as much as Masachika wishes he could watch anime (especially when he doesn't have the work ethic he had as a kid) he knows he can't slack off because he has to live up to Alya's example .

Speaking of Alya, nothing beats calling your crush late at night because you watched something scary! Especially to make sure he's properly motivated to study! And the promise of one of them following the others' order if Masachika ranks high/low is more than ample motivation! Especially when Alya seems set to use it to get them on a first name basis .

Though just as much as wanting to hear your crush' voice for comfort, when you learn you missed your crush' birthday you feel bad because you would have wanted to celebrate it with them. Especially for a Russian like Alya who is used to birthday parties. I mean, aren't she and Masachika close enough to celebrate it together? I also love how Masachika can tell something's up when she's not flirting with him in Russian ?

So it's time for a belated Birthday Party! Or Birthday Date, as Alya is dressed to impress on her date with Masachika and turning both male AND female heads in the process. And it's not only their first date but Alya's first ever date, and she's enjoying every minute of it !

The closing ceremony will be a do or die time for the campaign! They can't beat Yuki in a popularity contest, but so long as some of the students are rooting for Alya, they can make it work .

Wow, aggressive Alya! She's straight up flirting with him and teasing him without Russian! This is too powerful! She doesn't even care she fed him and did an indirect kiss in public! Masachika can't beat her like this .

When it's Summer time you need proper Summer Uniforms, so good on Chisaki and Toya for getting that done...and for making it into a couple moment between them .

Masha, don't steal Ayano's very reason for existing !

Masha is awkward around Masachika, not necesarilly because he saw her in her underwear but because she's worried under hypnosis she acted on her feelings for him. But once she realizes he saw her in a state of undress, it's worth it for that adorable Masha pout !

All work and no brotha makes Yuki a dull girl! So it's time to play the chad big brother flirting with his little sister !

Masachika and Yuki's OTHER grandpa is quite the character, dressing like a Western mafioso and then immediately going crazy when he spots Alya and trying to get her to marry into the family. Also Kuze Grandma would not appreciate him spending his pension on fancy clothes. Though it seems like he's mostly been the biggest male influence on Masachika because his father works across nations for Japan all the time .

Oh snap, Kujo Mama! And she's voiced by Kikuko Inoue! You can definitely tell where Alya and Masha got their good looks from (and Masha's personality) and of course she does the anime mom thing of revealing how much her daughter talks about her crush and teasing her about wedding bells .

Goes to show just how bad things are between Masachika and his mom that they can hardly bring themselves to even look at each other. Though she does seem on surprisingly good terms with her ex father-in-law .

When Masachika's grandpa met Alya I was expecting him to say something in Russian, giving her a hint that Masachika might actually understand the language, but it didn't happen. The secret is still safe.
Curious to see this little family reunion in the next episode and how Masachika will approach his mother.

I gotta say, I also keep expecting some sort of hint or slip of either him knowing Russian or him and Yuki being siblings, but it keeps not happening. I guess this is a longer running LN so it probably wouldn't happen in the first 3-4 volumes, but it just feels like a tease with no payoff at this point.

I have absolutely no clue what made Alya become so aggressive, but I loved every single minute of her teasing Masachika in the restaurant. I kept expecting her to fumble but she never did, it was almost a Takagi-san tier performance. Seriously, what happened to her?! When did she raise her power level so much? That was the most I enjoyed her since the first episode. Now I'm thinking it's a shame there are only two episodes left, but I think this has pretty good chances of getting a second season.

Not much Yuki but she was fun as usual. A little bit of Masha, who is still more or less just the nice onee-chan.

Masachika's other, cooler grandpa is awesome. A bit of a shame his scene with Alya didn't really lead anywhere. He just embarrassed the kids a bit.

When a tsundere lets her confidence get to her head, she can't be stopped .

Wow! Alya really went in on the offence this week! I do honestly appreciate that side of her though. This may have been her smoothest episode yet. But even when she's not smooth Alya is the type to pay attention. When she thinks she has an advantage she leans into it. It may make her bad at bluffing, but in a date situation it just adds to her overwhelming firepower.

I appreciate the fact that Alya and Masachika just told their family to shut up, but didn't actually deny anything that was said . Well it's a good thing for Alya to meet her future grandfather . Thankfully he didn't let anything slip about Masachika's Russian knowledge!

Wow...things are hilariously fun with Yuki, but absolutely toxic with the mother. While it seemed as if the mother has more mixed feelings in the earlier episode...Masachika just seems really angry. Might have really lost his head if his grandfather hadn't stepped up to speak with her first.

I figured Masachika's father was busy working, but I didn't think that he wasn't even in the country.

I was surprised Alya's mother was Japanese. Since Kujo is a Japanese name, I assumed it was her father who was Japanese. Maybe she's actually just quarter Russian? Or I guess it could be one of those husband takes his wife's name thing.

The last minutes when the grandfather appeared reminded me a lot to Kaguyasama especially with the President's father trying to making Kaguya marry his son.

The Kujo sisters have a reverse Menma family dynamic .

He might have left because he was fed up with the bad grandfather. There's only so much abuse someone can take. I honestly wonder why Yuki is trying to bear with it, since she has a big enough spine to just walk away. Personal ambition? Not wanting to leave her mother alone in that kind of environment?

It didn't seem like she had a choice because she was so sickly, and by the time she was healthy enough there was no way her grandfather would lose another heir. But I think the fact that she does have her own ambitions and her mother would have no one else if she left might have been a factor.

If anime told me something, is that in wealthy and powerful families going against the head of the family is extremely difficult. I'm no surprised if Yuki simply isn't strong enough to defy her grandfather yet.

I definitely want to see those two interact. They are both just as mischievous and eccentric, she definitely seems to have taken after him. Makes me wonder what their dad is like, too.

Alya's the Main Heroine (her name is literally in the title). I think coupled with the flashback she's gotten the most screentime.
