Unlike Ai, Ruby is supposed to the main heroine. You'd think we would have seen her rise to the top. I guess the "dark Ruby" arc counts, since her popularity grew significantly during it and that's when she started to overshadow the other two. But it wasn't the right path.

On the bright side, I'm not sure whether Aka backtracked because of the negative reception or if it was always the plan, but Kamiki being the real mastermind and a giant piece of shit is good. That's how it ought to be. I'm going to assume his sad flashback was fake and that him being a reincarnator is back on the menu.

I trusted what he said because I thought Aqua would be smart enough to see through his lies and he just let him go back then, but nope. He was completely fooled. That + my lack of faith in Aka's writing abilities meant I easily bought it too.

As a side note, I feel kinda bad for Kana. She was completely overshadowed by Ruby at her own graduation concert. She really was right to quit.

I have the same question. I can understand not believing in Aka being able to finish ther story properly but Oshi no Ko was sort of his passion project unlike Kaguya so maybe this arcs start was just a trolling. But it isalso possible that he reacted to the backslash and changed the plans concidering a few filler chapters and breaks recently.

I like to think Aqua "not seeing through his lies" was also a lie from Aqua just to give Ruby the closure she needed.

The one thing that did surprise me was that the director was in on Akane's little play there. And two other people I didn't quite recognize, but it's good that they were smart enough to have a few people there to ensure restraint.

If Aqua hadn't been fooled as well, his conversation with Akane regarding Nino makes no sense. Even Akane was fooled, she only realized it after confronting Nino. Granted, Akane didn't see Kamiki's "performance" first-hand.

It is kind of sudden that Ruby is this amazing idol. And we're suppose to just believe it.

She wasn't good at singing.
Her acting just barely passed for the movie and she was bad most of the time.
She ended up getting popular thru basic as hell marketing gimmicks just about anyone could do with connections, but not anything that's suppose to be 'super charismatic' that AI demonstrated.

Dude, this is Japanese idols. Have you seen them IRL. All that is required for them is to be cute, interact with stans and just be able to barely handle the songs. Yes, Ruby is apparently not that good at singing (though, ity was not obvious concidering her VA is decent at it) but she is very pretty by J-idol standards, good dancer and knows how to use her charisma to draw the fans.

Networking is a skill, and pretending any idol gets by on the singing and dancing skills alone is a myth.

The entire point of an agency is that you hope that they'll do the marketing and networking for you, otherwise you'll have to get your name out there yourself.

Even with Ai we were told that she didn't get her big break until Aqua got her hooked up with Director Gotanda.

It will be fun if Akane actually kills Kamiki but Aqua will still take a blame. But she is not close enough to get there. And Ruby and Kana are performing (unless we are tricked and the scene between Aqua and Kamiki takes place later).
