Wow. This show is going to have some insane doujins.
This show has become really amazingly popular and I love to see it. The cast and staff are very talented and have good histories, so its no surprise, but I never expected it to take off like this. If this doesnt get licensed in the US I will be furious.

Yea this should be one the rare Shaft shows that's licensable. Most of the others either rely way too much on Japanese puns and culture or just not popular enough.

I wonder what those think-of-the-children wackos would say

This series certainly has a chance at becoming the Evangelion of MG shows for our generation.

If these techniques involve learning how to be the best at upskirts, then he can out my soul in a gem any day.

A long while ago I found an old post on a locked forum thread somewhere lamenting the fact that the magical girl genre was locked into the same repeating pattern of cute girls continually fighting monsters of the week. The post stated that thoughRevolutionary Girl Utena appeared, with it's remarkable reinterpretation of the magical girl story, but it didn't fundamentally alter the way magical girls were portrayed; even after Utena aired, magical girls still played out in the preexisting fashion as before. There hadn't been a core shakeup of the magical girl genre the way Neon Genesis Evangelion changed the way people look at Giant Robot series.

I think it's possible thatMahou Shoujo Madoka Magica becomes that magical girl counterpart to EVA. It's too early to tell, but the potential undoubtably exists.

(Mostly accurate dialogue, but with a little editing to make it mesh better.)

Salaryman Kyubei is more depressing than Madoka Magica for me.

I love how a single scene has completely transformed Sayaka in the minds of the fandom into a galaxy-destroying badass. Loving pretty much all the fanart lately.

I also notice a lot of the mini-doujins have taken the concept of being able to "feel" what happens to the soul gems and... have really run with it
