Hopefully this means they'll get bigger budgets for future series?

That would be good, but Shinbou has a history of horrible monetary allocation...

Don't post much in here but those sales are awesome . The series should have a very good average after all the vols come out . Hope they do the prequel before the do the sequels.

The best thing for high sales is that the production company can finally have a chance get out of the "we're barely keep the business running → more works → lower quality" loop and strengthen their production, which I hope Shaft will learn their lesson and finally do so.

Not meaning to go off topic but did shaft shows in last 2 to 3 years make money . I know they were no big hits but seem to be doing okay on dvd sales.

Conversely, they'll learn that they don't really need all that much money to make a mega-hit and try to get absurd profits by cutting costs.

I don't know about that, but Hitagi Crab volume alone can almost surpass their overall last year's (Oricon-reported) sales. It's 1200% increase, judging from the numbers alone.

Nobody is going to support them anymore that way, me included.

Well it don't take much for that to happen .

Let say use ef for eg if it sold 10 000 copies each vol (which is not bad for a series)

Baka first vol sales are going more that whole of that show lol.

Here's the avg sales for SHAFT shows from last year and up.

Maria†Holic *3,390 (6) (Shaft)
Natsu no Arashi! ***984 (4) (Shaft)
Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei *4,292 (2+) (Shaft)

ef -a tale of melodies. *1,398 (6) (Shaft)
Hidamari Sketch x365 (Hidamari Sketch Sanrokugo) *8,121 (7) (Shaft)
Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei *5,452

Who makes the most money off Bakemonogatari? I assume Aniplex makes more than SHAFT since they funded it right?

From the orders in the "Production" (製作) credit, it should be Aniplex followed by Kodansha then Shaft.

I'm assuming Nisio Isin is getting some of the profit too right??
Since he's the original creator...

Judging from the BD/DVD release, it's funny to see that they've replaced real-life photo with actual drawing. It's surprising because people originally think that they want to be arty. But it's actually because they want to save production cost.

LOL When I think about it, some people tend to think at it as an art too. Is this "may be may be fraud" from Zetsubo sensei?

That was not my case so I'm happy. But there is actually some of these sequences well executed and meaningful, like Hitagi's flashback (which is, for the most part, untuched). Too bad the sequence made from animator's lunch is still there, but I have not watched Mayoi MaiMai yet (which was full of cheap sequence made from real photos).

How rare is it for the second volume of a series to go UP? I mean jeez they are just storming people's wallets. Atleast there is no excuse for not doing a sequel now.

So it's seems vol. 2 was the is the best selling tv anime BD volume with 39,000 discs sold so about 58,000 discs sold in the first week. I think Kizu and Nise is all but guaranteed now.

Pretty rare, but don't forgot that there were stock shortage on the pre-sale day when first volume went on sale.
