People complain that this episode had too many anime-original parts, but since I didn't read the novel, I'm just going with what I saw. It was eh. I like Rin and all, but I felt like her part was miscast. I wish Rider and Waver confronted Ryuunosuke instead.

If Rider and Waver had confronted Ryuunosuki, he'd be insta-gibbed.

Oh man an ep just about Rin! Like how she saved her friend. Good thing Kariya was there to save her though.

That and that Aoi's like stupid...and a terrible mother.

...I kind of dislike the blatant Rin lipservice the episode was. She was out of her league in the novels, she was a helpless little kid, this was so unrealistic. 5/10 only for the Tohsaka parents-Kariya stuff.

I liked it, but it felt like it was an episode of a different show entirely.

Because they changed it to make Rin a cool tiny super heroine, instead of the helpless little child with delusions of grandeur who bit more than she could chew. The novel chapter was definitely darker.

Awesome episode. 10/10. Came completely unexpected, too.

I haven't read the novel, but I felt something was up with how she handled herself and actually saved the kids.

I literally went "yeah, sure" at that point.

While I as a novel-reader though the content was a bit questionable, I felt like this episode had superb flow, direction was spot on imo.

I was wondering how they'll handle the gore of the little kids ... so when Rin found them... alive and in one piece (instead of furniture'd) really, really made me go .

Yeah I was almost facepalming where that power up music kicked in. But I'm glad Kariya showed up and made the whole episode a lot more relevant. Otherwise, as much as I like Chibi Rin, this was mostly misplaced filler...

Another thing: Kotone was obviously meant to parralel Sakura but I wonder why Rin wasn't more concerned about Sakura in the first place...

Thematically too incongruous with the story. This isn't a war for little kids, and they shouldn't make it seem like Rin could do anything. Not amused. This coming from someone who loves Rin.

6/10.

Still, this should be only be but a small blip in the series I hope. Looking forward to next week's episode judging by the preview at least.

Oh yeah, now I get why they kept the script writer a secret for so long (and the unnatural and suspicious behavior surrounding Gen relation to the adaption).

It has more to do with Sakura being adopted (with her parent(s) permission) as opposed to getting kidnapped. Rin might've tried and got Sakura back had she not been told to forget that she ever had a sister by her father ...

Not only that, but novel wise Rin fails to find and save Kotone from her doom, which makes it more a life lesson. To have changed that into a happy ending was almost criminal.

No, really. Regardless in LN or in the anime, Kotone's plight is nothing close to Sakura's situation. It is just more introspect regarding how the casualties could hit "non nameless characters".

Overal, I don't think the episode was "that" bad with such change for Rin, since in the end, she was "powerless" but on another context.
That being said, I'm not completely happy with the change either.
