I agree about the pose. At this point that's something I've come to expect out of Kotobukiya. (Their Tohsaka Rin and Tear Grants figures being 2 other excellent examples from my collection.) It's not a deal-breaker for me though; if I like a character enough, nothing will really deter me from a figure besides a really terrible face or grossly out-of-proportion body.

With the number of figures I have and the likelihood of multiple versions coming of bigger characters, I have to be pragmatic with my choices. I really can't afford spending near 100 then wishing I hadn't once I get it.

And no one is talking about Kotobukiya's Wolfwood?

This is a much healthier mindset than mine at least, haha. I tend toward obsession if it's a character I really like. Hell, I ordered THREE of the Asuna Nendoroid just so I could display her in all 3 expressions.

I'm hoping to buy my first figurine pretty soon which obviously means i'm a noob at this

I'm keeping my eyes on the sold out Asuna from SAO

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/det...-7996&page=top

I'm also looking at Kirito made by figma

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/det...%24pagecnt%3D1

Lastly, i'm looking at 2 different Inori's from Guilty Crown, one by figma which is cheaper and another 1/8 figure

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/det...%24pagecnt%3D1

Any advice for a newbie?

They're all good choices. If you like SAO, make sure to get the Nendoroids from GSC. There's one for Asuna and one for Kirito.

Buy what you think looks best to you

If you enjoy energetic poses but also able to change those poses and perhaps play with them, Figmas(/action figures) are the way to go

If you just want to have a beautiful figure as close as possible to the official artwork
then solid pose figures are your best bet

If you simply love the creative and often comic design of superdeformed, then go with Nendos and similar

Insane Black Rock Shooter is open for preordering.

15800 Yen including shipping from GSC's online shop. My wallet hurts.

http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/det...-8136&page=top 10580 from Ami is fine. Shipping is likely to sting a bit though, if Madokami is any indication.

Speaking of which, got my invoice, and the goddess sure got some weight... 3.1kg, totalling 7K for EMS shipping to Europe.
I really doubt it will go any lower than 5-6K even in parcel for IBRS 1/8. Except at least forking 6-7K, most likely 8-9K, and worse if you are unlucky enough to live in south america, due to a huge price spike AND customs (saw many people who had to dish out 10K for the shipping alone for Madokami... heh).

Realistically speaking, without customs taxes, you gotta save at least 18-20K yens even with usual online shop discount, unless you managed to get a discount on the shipping fee.

Madokami ended up being $188 for me, including shipping and exchange rates.

5540 yen for the shipping, which given the box size;

is really not all that bad. I've paid more for shipping on numerous occasions, but generally for 5-10 figures combined. This is a first. But I'm fine with it.

If you're paying 7-8K for shipping, just buy it directly from GSC shop. It's 2K flat shipping I think. Even cheaper if you split the order amongst other people as you can order up to 5 for 2K shipping total.

Anyways, that Kamidoka box is HUUUGE. It's good that I got 50% shipping discount on mine haha...

Seems bigger than the Love is War Deluxe Miku box...

The problem is actually how it wasn't even possible to figure its weight beforehand, especially when the estimations were rather on the 2kg side, but 3...?
Also, GSC shop is only good if you actually order more than 1 unit (especially for nendos), that would at least justify EMS that guarantee you customs taxes right on your face.

NSFW Sankaku : The only reason why it should be popular.
