Some of these powers are every bit as empowering as a billion dollars would be (in fact, some of them could almost certainly earn you a billion dollars if you played things right).

I could certainly understand some caution on the part of the major characters, but why not put on a magic show, for example? Molecule Girl, Captain Planet Girl, and Time-Stop Girl could do that very easily, and have people in complete awe of them.

To be fair, maybe they will do something like this later on.
And have the government bothering them every day to join them or to dissect their powers.

IRL, if someone handed you 1 billion dollars out of nowhere and disappeared, your going to get a lot of suspicion on how you got it.

And there's a difference between rich and fame anyway, I take riches, but no thanks to fame. And with the nature of the powers, I guess they feel its hard to separate the two if they do go down that path.

If I got all these neat powers, I keep it to myself too. I use it to benefit myself, and maybe someone near me if its convenient.

I don't have a hero complex, so becoming a hero of justice whatnot doesn't interest me, and there's tons of animes with that premise already, we just had Tokyo ESP last season. So I like this approach.

Useless powers are the best. They look cool, and no one cares about you having it. See: main protagonist.

I was dubious about this show from the descriptions, which were pretty vague. But I enjoyed that first episode, despite the fairly vague way things developed.

Uou! I'm seriously surprised to see so many less than positive opinions in this thread. I know this isn't the next classic but I found that what the show tried to do in its first episode it did surprisingly competently. The comedic timing was spot on, the characters had pleasant enough designs and pretty good voice acting (grain of salt since I'm not a native speaker). If anything people might criticise the slightly pedestrian backgrounds. Aa for the story it's too early to tell but for me it felt like it has the potential to entertain me once a week. Taking a what if situation and running with it while still being funny is a surprisingly difficult act to pull off and the show managed to do it rather well in its first episode so I'm hopeful for what's to come.

yeahh they look cool...but if they just end up being a drag and being protected all the time, such a shame lol. I might develop inferiority complex if I were him.
If he ended being bullied for it and he can't defend himself, he might lose his chuuni lol. Well this is comedy but I just hope the chuuni jokes don't get old too fast, unlike like the manga rising x rydeen(similar seemingly MC useless power), people said they got bored because the joke about MC's power got too old.

Alerting other people to their presence, people who might have powers and who might not be nice, could cause all sorts of disaster. And if they have, in fact, been chosen to be some sort of heroes, then coming out like that could alert whatever "enemies" they might unknowingly have to their identities.

Even putting that aside, the powers they have could literally change the world. Even using them in some way that might seem like the right thing to do could have immense, unforeseen consequences, far beyond the level of things kids their age should have to figure out how to handle. Right now, they're wiser to stay out of it all. The ethical questions, the moral questions, the decisions that could accidentally destroy all life on the planet... better to leave it alone until they're better equipped to make the right choices.
I somewhat disagree. I think that realistically any reasonably intelligent and thoughtful teenager would at least be giving serious consideration to everything that they could do with their powers, and not strictly limit themselves to training their powers once per month.

If they ultimately decide that you're right, and that they should put all of this off until adulthood, then that's understandable. But it would be nice to see them at least grapple with these questions, and to think about different alternatives, because frankly, I think most people (including most teenagers) would consider those questions if they suddenly gained high-level superpowers.

But we're not seeing these kids even do that, at least not yet.

You have these absolutely awesome superpowers, and you're restricting yourself to using them once per month? I honestly find that hard to believe. Especially from a group headed by someone who's very chuuni. That's the last sort of person I'd expect to be this incredibly restrained in the use of their powers.

It looked to me like they are pretty causal about using their power. Like for drying clothes, puting out imaginary fire of chuuni clubmate ect...

You'll notice that they were using them on their own. Chifuyu teleports into the clubroom. Hatoko traps Andou in water bubbles. Tomoyo stops time to fix problems. Sayumi uses her power to dry off Andou. I doubt these are the only examples.

The issue did arise in chapter 1 of the manga, along with a more serious atmosphere, which I don't think would suit the series well at all.

For all we know Tomoyo could actually be out there acting like a superhero and no one would ever know. Freeze time, stop the crime, unfreeze and go on with your day . Such a hax power without any trace left behind. But not that likely considering the tone in the first episode. Probably the best power though if you wanted to stay under the radar.

I'd definitely opt for Chifuyu's (the loli) power - decades ago I played the tabletop pen and pencil superhero rpgs and once created a character with similar powers. It was tricky because other than the OP powers he was your average joe, and he needed to be aware of something to use the "Molecule Man" style powers, but I found the character to be extremely useful and creative outside of combat situations too. It was extremely challenging, but also a blast. For that reason I am most curious to see what they will do with Chifuyu....

Yeah a lot of the powers have their positives. In a pure fantasy situation I'd be all for what is basically the Avatar character . Not exactly safe to use in a modern situation while keeping a low profile, but the power of those four elements is pretty OP.

The loli power is pretty cool too. One that you have to get creative with, but can basically do whatever you want at that point. Nothing wrong with making your own pocket spaces and creating all sorts of things.

Still, if I had my pick I might go for the time power. Subtle and subtle. Speeding up, slowing down, and freezing time has its uses.

I would have to go for the loli's power. Basically being able to create whatever you want plus teleporting by making rips in space just seems like the best one for me. It is very versatile.

Elemental power is pretty OP but not much use in modern life.

Time powers comes pretty handy and is discrete but it just loses to "Molecule man" power for me.

True.

I think that for me one big factor for whether or no I pick up the series will revolve around how they portray the newfound powers and abilities, especially as the characters explore what they can do with them. Time control and elemental control also have lots of possibilities and potentials as well, and the power of the ojou-sama healer is even emphasized in the series itself as being a big unknown.

I am sure there will be more battles, comedy and other things like that, but character and story development along the exploring of powers angle will prolly make it or break it for me....

I certainly would have a tough time saying no to the power of creation. Really a power just limited by imagination. It's the kind of power that has good balance between pure OPness and yet also subtle enough to be of use in a regular lifestyle.

Tougher to be subtle with that elemental power. I mean if you wanted to go pure super hero it'd be pretty awesome.

I always found time control to be a pretty cool idea for a power. Speed yourself up if you want to be the Flash or just freeze it when you need a breather.

But really who could forget about the wondrous power that is Dark and Dark ? I mean....might be a good power if you want to be a magician or something...

Yeah, I think a big thing will be how they handle the characters and story. While there could be some fun with having them fool around with those powers in their club, would still like to see some growth. Will just have to see how things unfold.

Hopefully they can make it into a fairly fun show to watch every week.

Five elements. Not just the four western elements, but the eastern element of light is included as well. Don't look down on light manipulation, as it includes things like invisibility, illusions, flash-bombs, and lasers, just to name a few applications.

An enjoyable first episode. Interesting premise, good character balance, solid animation, and decent comedy.

Will keep watching to see how the story unfolds.

I thought the 5 element eastern power is Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth.

I would never look down on light. I need it to see where I'm going after all .

Guess I am only one who would go for restore power, maybe because only people who live on their own can appreciate ability that mend holes in socks not mention it could applied instead watching machine dish washer too! No metter what anyone says it's absolutely most broken power
