Really amazing and tragic episode. Klein sure has come along way ever since Kirito showed him the ropes and he's leading his group well. Kirito sure has a mark to bear, but this will definitely motivate him to finish what he needs to do, and it's sad that he lost a really great friend.
I genuinely teared up when Sachi started singing the said title song. Sachi, you will be missed, and your humming was a real treat for the ears! It's just...so sad.

That was a pretty rushed introduction to this episode. Kirito is suddenly away from the glares of the other players, split up from the people he had shortly worked with, he managed to save a bunch of people and he's asking to be in their guild? There's usually an explanation to all this that would make it see more acceptable, it's called flashbacks, but they didn't even put that in either, nor did they tell us how much time has passed :S
That was kind of a bummer, I wanted to see Kirito leave the first floor tower and to see what he would do next whilst knowing where the others were going as well. Perhaps a bigger confrontation for him being a beta player and not telling anybody...not even a sweet romance moment between him and Azuna? Man =/ Now we're just having new characters immediately introduced without warning. Ehh, it was at least nice to see a familiar character. Klein is still alive then eh? Good to know And out of the new characters, I do quite like Sachi, she was so sweet and innocent. I guess this episode overall was to show that the players should underestimate the game itself and should be careful with what they do. High level or not, you still have a high chance of dying when fighting monsters equal to your level. It was interesting to see all the different guilds and events that go on in the game. It's like Runescape or something A tragic episode none the less, poor Sachi

This episode was a nice change of pace because it's a chance to see Kirito joining/working with other people, and sympathizing with an innocent tragic character. It's clear that he's been trying to avoid contact as you see with Klein and others at times, but seeing him connect with others (well someone, to an extent) and risking his life for an "urban legend" really showed development on his end, despite his desire to stay incognito.
@DXMicheal It's Kirito, not Kiriko. Whether it was spelling error or whatever, just letting you know.

I saw the footprint trail and instantly thought:
"Oh god, she's trapped in Fable 3! No wonder she wants a double suicide!" But damn, it's wonderful to hear Hayami Saori's voice again.

"OK" episode. This is a side story chapter as far as I know, but I still don't get why they included it if it was just going to be crammed this badly into one episode.
For the record, I didn't have a problem with how they treated episode 2, but if they were trying to deliver an emotional attachment here with Sachi, it failed because it had so little time to sink in before she bit the dust. The emotion of the ending of the episode essentially just wasn't earned. I am not particularly happy at how this was handled.

And I'm sure you're more than happy to foot the bill for doubling the episode count (at least) right?
2 cour shows are rare enough these days as it is, expecting them to roll out a 4 cour is unrealistic to put it mildly. Really, did people actually expect a page by page translation from the novel to the screen? Last edited by relentlessflame; 2012-07-21 at 21:13. Reason: edited quoted post |

Talk about the amount of time skips, Some of them was very awkward such as the jump to Christmas Eve. Made me somewhat confuse and had to guess what is going on and whats Kirito situation at.
Dissappointed there was no fight scene with Nicholas the renegade. Was getting excited when it popped out from the sky but that got shot down. Other than that I did enjoy the episode. Sad about Sachi though, I started to like her.

Worst episode yet. I doubt anime only viewers have any chance at really understanding what this story really was about. Last week they managed to condense the plot in a suitable manner, but this time was complete failure. It becomes more and more apparent that they were simply to ambitious in the amount of story they want to cover in this series. This story arc should have been covered in two episodes. That's all there is to be said.
And the preview makes me think that the next weeks will have the same problem. It seems my fears before this show started were well founded. I said that only if they spent 24 eps on Aincrad this show would be awesome. |

It was OK imo. Yeah would have been better if it was displayed in 2 or 3 chapters. For what this event means for Kirito, but it was not bad. It did what it was supposed to do... and remember that this is not about the black cats... the reasoning to keep it short might have been gone trough those lines.
