They are talking about Shiba Kaien deceased Fuku Taicho of Rukia's division . He was the man Rukia looked upto who treated Rukia as Rukia and not Kuchiki Rukia . Its hinted Rukia had some sort of feelings towards him , but he was already married so they enver materialized .

He is the Older brother of Ganju and Kukaku , who dies at Rukia's hands . Ichigo bears a strong resembalance to him in appearance also mannerism . Its rumoured Ichigo is Kaien's reincarnation .

Ukitake is the Taicho of Jusantai while Kaien was his Fuku Taicho hence the the VC position is empty

Rukia didnt kill Shiba Kaien, Ukitake "killed" him. She was just the one to deliver his body. She said that she had kiled him figuratively, by not helping him when he fought the Grand Fisher.

Yep each squad lives in their own respective Squad Quarters . See most shinigamis are from Rukognai hence this living arrangement .

This rule holds good for people who were not born in Seireitei . All the classes of Noble families have their respective homes ie Rukia Kira etc . They live their , unlike other Shinigamis Eg Rukia lives in 6th squad or Kuchiki clan Mansion but works in 13th Squad

The Shinigamis dont sleep at once they have shifts .. Keeping world free from hollows is a 24/7 job

Its obviously Rukognai Every soul which enters SS goes to Rukognai first Depending on their respective soul power lucky few get selected as Shinigami

* Both Rukia Kuchiki and Renji Abarai grew up here.

79 - Kusajishi (草鹿), the North Alley of Loitering Spirits

* Yachiru Kusajishi was found here by Kenpachi Zaraki.

80 - Zaraki (更木), the North Alley of Loitering Spirits

* Kenpachi Zaraki came from here.

I really dont think no soul which comes to SS is ever taken to Seireitei ... Seireitei is called Court of Pure Souls . Other than you are some form of Nobility or born due to union of two shinigami you wouldnt come from Seireitei

there are three specials for bleach airing this month (Dec 2006).
apparently two of them are 90 minutes long and one is 30 minutes long.
are these related to the bounto arc? or are they separate stories more like OVAs?

Oh, here's one.
The 2nd episode stated that ichigo's family had their memorys wiped out, and they thought a truck ran into their house. Well, does a memory-wipe work on a shinigami? Because his family is "special" and shouldn't have worked.

As far as I know Memory wipe doesnot work aginst shinigamis ... If it does its not stated in the series . And well Aizen would have used it aginst shinigamis and his plans would have excuted faster ....

Rukia does not use memory wiper on Ichi .... so it may not work against shinigami or people with strong spirit power

Kurosaki family is not that special leaving Isshin as the plot progresses everyone in contact wih Ichigo awakens there spirt powers including tatsuki and keigo .

The only speciality in the family is Isshin ... but at that time frame ep 2 his powers are sealed away

this is quite incorrect. durring Ukitake and Hollow Kaien's fight Ukitake started to have an atack caused by his sickness. Hollow Kaien went after Rukia while Ukitake was hacking up a lung Rukia raised her sword in defence and impaled him through the heart. He regained some of his mind and thanked her as he died in her arms.

my question concerns the kanji seen during the opening moments of Bleach 01:

"We have no form, therefore we fear it. And because we are formless, we revere it. Thus we are slain."

has the manga, or anyone, elaborated on this? like who is the "We" and "it" refering to? or is it just meant to be interpreted by the veiwer as they see it

I wonder if it has a good answer. Unfortunately if I was to answer it, I'd be speculating without any hard evidence. I think I know what it means, but it is very vague. If nobody can post a solid answer for this in the next few days, then I will move your question into a new thread (creating it with your post) and respond with my speculation.

I suspect that your thread will have to be made so that folks can speculate about its meaning.

I guess you are reffering to manga kubo does have a habit of leaving this lil note or Cryptic Prose . I am speculating here

refers to hollow which is a - ive soul

I think its description of souls in genral both plus and minus souls

Questions time.

Can animal souls go to Soul Society? I've seen birds... And I've seen meat and fish being eaten. Maybe there's a place where the souls of butchered animals go?

Ok I have a stupid question. From my understanding there are four ways to fight right, I forgot what they were but there was somethingn about demonic magic and other stuff so no one else finds it wierd that Ichigo can only fight with his sword and cant use any magic, He has a big ass spirit power it would be cool to see him use any magic attacks ^^
