We watched Ichi the killer, but the movie. Well, that was disturbing enough lol.

Also slowly watching Gankutsou, its interesting but the drawing style sorta makes me a bit dizzy sometimes.

So, any new suggestions?

If you like Gankutsou, read the original novel.

OK, being the resident Monster pimp, I just have to mention it since it actually fits the requirements:

Dark Enviromented - hell, yes.
Male protagonists - yes, male protagonist and male antagonist, too; no cuteness, no fanservice.
Violent but not too violent - alot of people die but the anime doesn't revel in the violence.
More oriented through psycological drama (not a requirement) or a really catchy storyline - what about having both a storyline with a lot of twists and psychological depth of the characters?

Also, you may try Speed Grapher.

how about Now and Then, Here and There?

The artwork may look kiddy and the first episode may give off that impression, but the show overall definitely is not. I mean it deals with child soldiers and other mature issues like rape, war, etc. so it's not exactly going to be very pleasant viewing. And it has a rather gritty setting, a harsh desert ruled by a maniacal tyrant.

It's also a very emotionally powerful show. I don't know if I'd say it's a psychological show, but nonetheless it is very dramatic and well-paced. Violence? It's a bit brutal at times, but it's not particularly graphic, but it is very effectively used to enhance the story as opposed to being violent for the sake of being violent.

Great soundtrack too.

Just wanted to say this, ichi the killer movie is <3. Just brought it on DVD a few weeks ago. Shame the anime was not as good.

In terms of other dark anime...... seems you have watched most of the ones i have liked.

Perhaps Mnemosyne (a little adult mind you)

hmm... it seems your list already full of those that i want to suggest, but probably Skullman and Desert Punk will meet your criteria. Both are quite dark and violent.

OK!

So, we finished Now and Then, Here and There.

It was ok.. but.. not enough pixel violence :P.

All the themes are shown in a very.. "unrelated" way. And with a villain like Hamdo, it's hard to take it seriously.
Anyways, we got Wolf's Rain and we're loving it. It's gonna be over soon tho!

MOAR SUGGESTIONS PLEASE!!

Shigurui definitely is violent with plenty of 'pixel violence'. Don't forget to have a puke bag nearby.

You sure are quite the excited child. And "We", twins?

Try:

Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal just the movie...not the series.
