I can't wait for this movie.
The G1 purists are just... well, I hate to sound rude, but close-minded and annoying are the only adjectives I can think of. When the complaints are about some flames and face masks I really can't see any childhood being raped, thats just absurd nitpicking. In movies like Doom they really changed the whole thing, the basics, you know, demons got replaced by aliens, how stupid, but this is pretty much what transformers is about, giant alien robots who transform into cool things and beat each other up as a huge ad to sell the toys, and I really have no problem with that, is pure unadultered entertainment. I could do without the lame romantic backstory for sure, and some models look cluttered, but I won't let such thing to stop me from enjoying the awesome action scenes and transformations, and this movie has plenty. Isn't that what transformers is about? if you are into them for the story or characters I have to recommend to go away and read some books. And as much as I loved the original series and watched it religiously, the fact that they don't look like piled up boxes is irrelevant to me, those old models with their impossible physics and parts appearing and disappearing from nowhere would look dumb in live action anyway. I can only imagine the flaming whining hell that the internet would become if that evangelion live action movie ever becomes real

So a red Optimus is gonna lose the movie 20, 30 dollars?? I hate when these people want to do things "new" for the sake of just being "new"...So hey enjoy the movie...The popcorn's on me xD...I have no doubt my GF or my lame a$$ little cousins or my friends will drag me to this thing just for the hell of it, but I have no doubts when I come outta that theater I will have just seen BAYFORMERS and if by the luck of UNICRON I actually am floored or blown away by it, I'll be the first one to re-write history all over this thread in apology (Now THAT would be a transformation!)...

I see your point and all... but really... is just some flames. A more proper comparison would be the famous nipples in the batsuit, but those movies had far more problems that just the ridiculous nipples.
More important however, this is just transformers, an animated half hour long commercial to sell those awesome toys, its really really hard for me to find any "heart" into that. How can hollywood kill the heart of transformers when to be honest there never was one? |

Did you watch the 80's cartoon??  Every episode ended with a cheezy line or situation that leaves you with that good feeling inside...Transformers and it's counterpart GI JOE was known for that...As for Prime, you're kinda skimming over the fact he's predominatley BLUE with fireballs as oppose to his normal RED coloring...As for the rest it is what it is...I imagine the Box Office numbers will kick a$$ regardless of the thousands and thousands of G1 fans who just want something that reminds them of why they loved this show so much...

Flames wingdarkness, not fireballs. If they were fireballs then we'd see balls of fire on him. Instead they are flames.
And check out all that blue http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...imus_prime.jpg It seems to be reversed a bit. Optimus had blue hands and legs with a red upper body originally. Instead he has red hands, still blue legs with red flames, and a predominately red upper torso with blue on the sides. Nevertheless he's still wearing the same colors he originally had but mixed up more. I would argue it's more blue-redish. Quote:

Wow these links you provided were great...Love reading people who agree with me about this...Just found out Shia Lebouf is some jacka$$ named Sam and not Spike (Hell maybe they make it his nickname)...Well yet another bummer...Also heard in the review Megatron says what amounts to one line of dialouge to Starscream (My favorite character) all movie..."A boy and his car" eh Speilberg?? F*ck everything else right? Micheal Bay didn't even know what TF were?? He had to go to TF school?!??! Then he says he's gonna do the fans proud?? Hey I missed that passage where was it?? I was busy reading like 400 posts on people debating who was the "plant" that did the review (Really great and hilarious read I swear to God  )..A review where all 3 reviewers basically prefaced their critique with "Well the plot, actors, and characters sucked but the action was great..."  heres an interesting image to give us an idea about the sizes of some of the transformers. when the first images started to flood into the internet i was a tad concernd about how the movie would turn out, but from what im seeing it may,be a likable movie. but as long as we're ranting im genna stick my two pence in the pile. 1. i hate it when directors put their names onto the movie title. from the majority of adverts ive heard they usually boil down to "MICHAEL BAY PRESENTS... transformers". i dont care who the director is all i want is a good movie. 2. why is megatron still in his cybertron mode. i know a giant gun would be a bit lame in the modern era but saying ... "oh yeah well he crashed and was frozen so he doesn't have an earth vehicle mode" is a bit lame. yeah so anyway i cant wait to see this movie despite its numerable flaws in my mind
