Just saw the raws, Utsumi follows her around on the date. He keeps misunderstanding the situation, but the guy does nothing bad. The two dont seem to get real close, they dont hold hands or kiss or anything of the sort. But it dosnt seem as though Yuki had a bad time. She notices him following her around at the end, she dosnt seem to think its a big deal. She says somthign in the end which causes a reaction out of Utsumi, what it is ans whether it is positive or not im unsure.

Chapter summary

Spoiler for Ch 21:

The playboy answers the phone. It is Eri. She asks if he is free. When he asks why she tells she has uneasy feeling. Does he noticed something strange about Utsu who was asking about the rumors connecting Yuki and some bad guy together.

Playboy notes Utsu, and Eri says it is strange no matter how they look at it.

Utsu thinks that, he learned from Kurokawa that she and the guy are going to watch the movie. It is the only cinema around so he waited here.

Kurokawa’s cousin told that she rarely goes out of home so Utsu is worried.

He sees Yuki and the guy walking friendly and thinks that the guy is acting friendly only to mask his hazardous intents. He thought ‘Now’ but to his surprise they just went further.

Then some girls chatter how good looking the guy is and that the girl is also looking good and nicely dress and that handsome guy and that beuty look well together, which makes Utsu hurt.

Then utsu gets into cinema and thinks what vile ways the delinquent could have – like him brutally attacking Yuki not caring about the movie (we are shown of the guy drugging Yuki in Utsu’s head).

Then Eri and Playboy greet him. He wonders about them and Eri asks if being a peeping-tom is his hobby.

Then Utsu starts blabbering about hwo Eri was right and as friend he has to look out for Yuki so that the delinquent does not do anything bad to her. Eri wonders if its just a big misunderstanding, while Playboy thinks that it is amusing.

While Utsu thinks that they are just tricked and that soon the delinquent will show his true colours.

Then the guy leans close to Yuki and whispers something into Yuki’s ear, making Utsu jump shouting ‘Aah!’.

As Yuki turns around no one is there as Eri and Playboy pushed Utsu down Eri calling him an idiot while Playboy asks what the heck was he thinking.

After the movie Eri says that it went without incidence and peacefully. It is just an ordinary date and Utsu should lay it off.

Then Utsu notes guys approaching Yuki and her date, and Utsu runs off thinking that he was right and that this was the most dangerous time for the guy to act, but it seems like the guy just introduced Yuki to his friends like a simple nice friendly guy, making Utsu trip.

According to Eri and playboy those are just his classmates. Eri says he should give up but Utsu is convinced that it is just a good act and follows them around. Then it goes – Yuki and guy rides the buss both talking and Yuki smiling pleasantly at the guy, while Utsu worries, then Yuki and her date go shopping clothes together while Eri and playboy makes fun from frustrated Utsu (gee such a great friends they are), then Yuki and the guy go carusel ride (Yuki looking pretty happy). Also such ride (on the wheel) is considered a couple thing in japan, so naturally Utsu freaks out watching them.

Then Eri says – hey it’s enough already, come on lets just go. But Utsu says that it is absolutely not possible and he will tail them more. When Utsu runs off Eri notes that he is so stubborn, while playboy makes a comment that it is not like Utsu is afraid of the guy being bad, but more like he wants the guy to be bad.

At café Eri notes that Yuki looks pretty happy talking to the guy, while Utsu tries too hard to search for the bad by meddling with their private talk.

Then the guy boasts yuki about baseball (I think) while Yuki is acting like a bit of ditzy girl (‘Heh, cool!’) and then flirts with Yuki telling that she is so attractive that all other guys must think he is lucky.

Blushing Negishi asks ‘what about Kurokawa. Do you have someone you like at the moment?’

Utsu thinks ‘Uwa. So straightfowrad!’

Yuki answers – Before. But now thre is no. (implies she liked someone in the past I think)

Then Negishi asks that maybe he could be the one who takes the current free spot in her heart.

Utsu remembers Yuki’s words that “I was hurt before’ and makes connection – could it be that her trauma was because liking someone before.

Can’t you forget that?

Then we get some more Eri complaining that the day is already ending and that he should just move on instead of wasting his time and didn’t she already said him to lay it off. Besides the guy seems to honestly like her.

Then playboy notes that they are going through the station and when Eri asks whats about it, playboy tells that it is notorious place of bars.

Utsu runs off while Eri and playboy run after him and playboy asks about negishi’s rumours and Eri tells talls about bosozoku meetings.

And when they turn, Eri notes that it isnt some notorious bar, but Utsu is not listening and runs off thinking the worst things that thsi guy was keeping himself off for whole day just for this moments, but when he runs up... he sees the guy and Yuki sunsetgazing together, like a cute couple.

Playboy goes ‘What, sunset?‘ while Eri goes how nice it is.

While Utsu just stands dumbfounded thinking what is this... obviously in pain and dejected.

Parting guy tells “I had a great time today.“

Yuki “Yes. Please wait for my answer!”

Then Yuki notices Utsu and Eri and playboy (Eri tries to make up an excuse that they accidentally met on the street).

Eri more importantly “That was a nice date with Nagishi wasn’t it. So what your answer will be?”

Yuki answers - Yes, but despite all this she thinks she is going to reject him.

This makes Utsu surprised – reject, how so

Yuki explains that all the time it felt like it was a one-sided conversation and despite being together they did only a very little things together for her to enjoy herself more.

Then Yuki asks if they are tired, Eri and playboy say – not particularly, why, and Yuki invites them to the karaoke bar nearside and Eri and playboy happily agree.

On the last page Utsu thinks

Aah that experience…

Why was it so. And why it was so painful and hurt like this. What are those feelings he has? Could it be that it’s because he is starting to feel more than friend towards her?

My thoughts

Nothing much happened, Yuki looked happy enough but she wasn't holding hands or anything, though they did almost pretty much all things couples do and that in one day (they did quite a lot for one day I am not usre how they managed to fit the schedule - shopping together, movie watching, eating, going for wheel ride, sunset gazing together etc.)

Utsu was hurting all the time, so the author did standard shitting on Utsu thing, but at least this time there was some important things -

1 - we are implied that Yuki liked someone in the past (not particularly new thing though).
2- she doesnt have special feelings for anyone for now and is giving the green-light for her date.
3- She is probably going to reject guy
4- still is hesitant to reject him to the face thus postpones her answer again (she is pissing me off)
5- Utsu is realizing he is feeling more than friendly feelings because of intense pain he felt during Yuki's date.

Still Yuki looks like a retard. She barely knows the guy and then wonders how did she feel yuncomfortable and did not take part in doing things with her date?

How could it be otherwise? She had bad past and went randomly on the date with the guy she barely even knew the name - naturally she was going to feel tensed. She still enjoyed it well enough I guess, but she is an idiot if she expected more.

She should at least know something about the guy she is dating, then maybe she will relax enough to enjoy doing things together. Going out with random guys you barely know the names off won't fix your love problems.

It was not as bad as I expected - I expected to make him a fool out of himself in Yuki's eyes, but he only fooled himself in Eri's and playboys eyes.

But otherwise it was like i expected - we get the my predicted 'Why do I feel this pain' crap and Yuki did enjoy her date even if she was not captivated by it (seriously the author lacks any originality here).

Lack of Risa (the only girl I still care about in this manga) made this a pretty much fail chapter for me. Very generic and lacks of originality. Painful to see Utsu going back to peeping business too.

Izumi (who is a vet on the battlefield of love), Utsumi and Eri. Eri thinks he is simply being an idiot, but Izumi catches on quickly (before Utsumi himself) that Utsumi likes Yuki more than a friend. And his instinctive leap to "demonise" a rival is....

Yuki most likely isn't going to go steady with this guy (Unless something happens between Utsumi and Risa). That is because the guy keeps trying to promote and sell himself to her, instead of having fun togther. There was nothing to say it was incomfortable or tense, becasue she said he is a nice person (or at least not a bad person).

Utsumi still has a chance with Yuki, since his "practice date" with her is the only one where she truly enjoyed herself (even before her epiphany with the heartbroken Utsumi!). Plus, he finally understands his own feelings to her. What is left now, is for her to understand her feelings for him...and to learn how to stop fearing emotional intrimacy. I think this is a positive development for a Good Ending.

It is all hunky dory for now. Of course, being a romance manga, things will happen down the road.

I wanted to post why I think she isn't a simpleton to date this guy, as I already explained in a post at Mangafox last week. Unfortunately, it will probably get ignored like it did over at Mangafox and people will just argue about things completely unrelated to that point

Edit: To make the point more clear and thanks for your invite kanon. I don't mind egging that guy on because it is so fun to do so. But I don't have the time to do this on every forum...Because it' not the only hobby I have!

I have to agree with darknemo that Yuki's reluctance to reject the guy is getting really annoying. What's wrong with the author here? She could have given us a short break by letting Yuki reject him the same chapter, but no this way there remains a lingering menace for Utsu that (although unlikely) she'll comply out of whatever drama-driven situation. This series keeps too many potential angst-filled trouble spots like (e.g. Yuki's past) that we're reminded over and over again like there's the next big crisis just around the next corner. Don't get me wrong here, I still think the author does a great job overall and i probably should praise her more often than criticize what i perceive as troublesome, it's just that writing about the latter makes it better to deal with

I saw a recommendation for this on MAL while looking at KnIM's page. Why didn't anyone tell me about this series!?

I blew threw the first 17 chapters this afternoon. I wanted to take my time but we all know how that goes, haha.


This is a pretty good series here. While some of it is predictable, it's not. And it's not that cliche either. The only thing I don't like is the glimpse of Yuki's past. I won't like when we learn what happened there.

Well, I hope more chapters are scanlated soon.

Intresting chapter. Utsumi has an erotic dream about yuki. During practice Utsumi seems to grow slightly jealous when she talks to some dude.Later at work he walks in on Risa changing. She actually dosnt seem to mind and is definitely showed to have feeling for Utsumi, what appears to be strong ones at that. Later at school Utsumi chat with yki, but it seems akward now that he is phyically attracted to her. Risa arrive at his school and talks to Utsumi. Yuki senses that she likes him and gives her ticket to the rock concert to her, thinking she is doing Utsumi a favor. Later that nigh Utsumi calls Yuki from outside her house. The conversation seems pretty deep but i have no clue what its about.

Here is chapter 22 summary. I don't know if I'll be posting any more since I am thinking about dropping manga. It doenst give me any other feeling but annoyance lately and even this chapter where nothing all that bad happens doenst feel good anyway.

It starts with Yuki asking not too stare this much and if he feels nervous too. But because you said I like you, it is alright (I don’t know who from them says that). Then Yuki goes Utsu and Utsu goes Kurokawa...

Then Utsu wakes up with massive nosebleed. Then he lacks focus at tennis practice and his sempai makes a right guess if it was because some ero stuff. Utsu denies it of course. Utsu thinks that once he noticed the stuff he started dreaming and started to feel uneasy about the things before.

Then he notices that he feels alright around his sempai too because Kurokawa helped him to get over with it. (You can see that sempai herself still feels uneasy and cannot look Utsu straight into the eye). Without her he wouldn‘t have made it. But now (Utsu thinks while at workplace) even the usual talks after school feels weird, maybe because he started noticing things... changing big time (and shows the fanservice Yuki crap again where she in her underwear calls out Utsu‘s name). But tries to convince himself that it doesn’t matter.

He sees stripping Risa fanservice, but that bastard is more occupied with the annoying Yuki to really appreciate it.

Then he asks for forgiveness, but Risa says it is her fault for forgetting to lock the door anyway.

Then Risa tells Utsu she has things to report and when Utsu wonders what does that mean, Risa tells she tried the thing that Utsu advised her before. And shows short scene with Risa telling about her weight problems and other girls are interested in how she managed to change this much just during a single year. And thus they became friends.

Then Risa says she has to repay Utsu somehow because it was all because of him, but Utsu waves it off telling that it was all Risa‘s doing. And when Risa smiles he says she has a cute smile and if she‘d show it more often he was sure she would become very popular among boys because of it (‘and because of chest too‘ he silently adds to himself).

Risa almost has a heart attack and when Utsu panics she explains she is not used to being told things like that. Then coming to class he finds that he and Yuki will have cleaning duty together again, and thinks how things do change when he was almost scared the first time, and now it is completely the opposite.

Then he and Yuki has a small chat about the list he is making and that they should hand it to the faculty office once finished. Then they continue to have small hat about Utsu being nice and blah blah blah which makes Yuki laugh and Utsu blush.

And Utsu thinks how nice is that that they can now laugh together. And he wants to keep it as long as possible, that’s why he should not change the relationship the way they are (yes, dude, you should not – stay friend-zoned for the rest of your life like a good sweet little buddy that no one ever thinks about bedding and take your pathetic DNA together with you to the grave).

Then Yuki asks if he has the girl he likes, like maybe at work or is he still not over with Akira sempai (it makes Utsu blushing hard again, thinking that Yuki implies something with her question at first).

No, Utsu answers, it is alright now and silently thinks that for moment he wanted to answer to her question – ‘Yes, you!‘ but is again afraid of having things to change. Yuki starts to press him because she suspects he has someone he likes already and wonders if that‘s a person from the work or if it is someone she knows, and Utsu is getting closer to spill the beans. And thinks that maybe he will have his chance after the concert this week like hanging out after it.

And deludes himself about what the hell is he’s doing, idiot when he sort of hides his face behind the desk leanining to pick up something. But then he gather courage and starts saying that he would like to ask her something...

But then Risa comes in to tell Utsu about the schedule change thus spoiling his pathetic attempt. And that she could not get the ticked to the concert they talked about and that she is envious of her sempai (gee, how convenient, seriously mangaka is so generic and so badly lacks the originality here that its getting ridiculous) then Yuki of course offers her ticket saying she cant go, and that Risa should take her spot and go to the concert with Utsu.

Then Yuki whispers to Utsu that Risa is a lovely girl and he should work hard. But Utsu is too heartbroken at this moment as he was waiting for his time with Yuki but she just throws it away like its nothing and Utsu thinks why are you saying that Kurokawa.

Back at work Utsu is still heartbroken and depressed. That even the colleagues ask Risa what is the matter with Utsu today but Risa doesn’t know either.

Then we switch to the annoying Yuki reading some magazine and Utsu calling her telling its him and asking her to go out for a bit.

When Yuki sees him and tells him to come up, but Utsu says it is alright as he does not want to make a scene with her cousin (Oh for gods sake!)

Then Yuki asks if he wants to ask something and Utsu says yes, he is returning her the ticket she gave to Risa, and put it in the mailbox.

Yuki asks why, because she gave her ticket away because she was thinking of his well to begin with, so what for he did such thing?!

Utsu thinks that she is misunderstanding him.

And Utsu answers – though you are saying you are doing this to me, this ticked was bought and I was invited by Kurokawa and not by someone else, so how can she decide, what if he wanted to go there with Kurokawa!

And thinks ‘Waah I said it’

We can’t see Yuki’s eyes as she answers - Really… what a troublesome guy you are. Wasting such an opportunity.

And then adds with a smile ‘A true idiot.”

As to my thoughts

Nothing bad but nothing good except making the annoying Yuki happy. I so wnated for him to go with Risa. Forget that Yuki dude and find yourself a normal girl who would love you back instead of screwing if you all the time. The only thing that Yuki is better at is her looks, but as far as the personality goes she sucks.

I usually like calm and witty heroines, and Yuki was my favorite as well but chapters 18 onwards ruined her character for me and now she just anyones me. And it is bad since she is the main heroine and when you dislike the main heroine the whole manga becomes rather meh.

Well at least Utsu told her to stop running his life and do not decide things on her own and think about his feelings too rather than building that pretty little good buddy image and not even acting on the advices she's giving him (in fact doing quite the opposite) thus being a hypocrite.

Though many said it was good chapter they were waiting for it is not. Utsu is not happy, in fact for short day period he is again depressed and heartbroken. Though he did enjoy the little chat he and Yuki had but it still ended with Yuki unintentionally stabbing him in the back so yeah.

Here is chapter 22 summary. I don't know if I'll be posting any more since I am thinking about dropping manga. It doenst give me any other feeling but annoyance lately and even this chapter where nothing all that bad happens doenst feel good anyway.

It starts with Yuki asking not too stare this much and if he feels nervous too. But because you said I like you, it is alright (I don’t know who from them says that). Then Yuki goes Utsu and Utsu goes Kurokawa...

Then Utsu wakes up with massive nosebleed. Then he lacks focus at tennis practice and his sempai makes a right guess if it was because some ero stuff. Utsu denies it of course. Utsu thinks that once he noticed the stuff he started dreaming and started to feel uneasy about the things before.

Then he notices that he feels alright around his sempai too because Kurokawa helped him to get over with it. (You can see that sempai herself still feels uneasy and cannot look Utsu straight into the eye). Without her he wouldn‘t have made it. But now (Utsu thinks while at workplace) even the usual talks after school feels weird, maybe because he started noticing things... changing big time (and shows the fanservice Yuki crap again where she in her underwear calls out Utsu‘s name). But tries to convince himself that it doesn’t matter.

He sees stripping Risa fanservice, but that bastard is more occupied with the annoying Yuki to really appreciate it.

Then he asks for forgiveness, but Risa says it is her fault for forgetting to lock the door anyway.

Then Risa tells Utsu she has things to report and when Utsu wonders what does that mean, Risa tells she tried the thing that Utsu advised her before. And shows short scene with Risa telling about her weight problems and other girls are interested in how she managed to change this much just during a single year. And thus they became friends.

Then Risa says she has to repay Utsu somehow because it was all because of him, but Utsu waves it off telling that it was all Risa‘s doing. And when Risa smiles he says she has a cute smile and if she‘d show it more often he was sure she would become very popular among boys because of it (‘and because of chest too‘ he silently adds to himself).

Risa almost has a heart attack and when Utsu panics she explains she is not used to being told things like that. Then coming to class he finds that he and Yuki will have cleaning duty together again, and thinks how things do change when he was almost scared the first time, and now it is completely the opposite.

Then he and Yuki has a small chat about the list he is making and that they should hand it to the faculty office once finished. Then they continue to have small hat about Utsu being nice and blah blah blah which makes Yuki laugh and Utsu blush.

And Utsu thinks how nice is that that they can now laugh together. And he wants to keep it as long as possible, that’s why he should not change the relationship the way they are (yes, dude, you should not – stay friend-zoned for the rest of your life like a good sweet little buddy that no one ever thinks about bedding and take your pathetic DNA together with you to the grave).

Then Yuki asks if he has the girl he likes, like maybe at work or is he still not over with Akira sempai (it makes Utsu blushing hard again, thinking that Yuki implies something with her question at first).

No, Utsu answers, it is alright now and silently thinks that for moment he wanted to answer to her question – ‘Yes, you!‘ but is again afraid of having things to change. Yuki starts to press him because she suspects he has someone he likes already and wonders if that‘s a person from the work or if it is someone she knows, and Utsu is getting closer to spill the beans. And thinks that maybe he will have his chance after the concert this week like hanging out after it.

And deludes himself about what the hell is he’s doing, idiot when he sort of hides his face behind the desk leanining to pick up something. But then he gather courage and starts saying that he would like to ask her something...

But then Risa comes in to tell Utsu about the schedule change thus spoiling his pathetic attempt. And that she could not get the ticked to the concert they talked about and that she is envious of her sempai (gee, how convenient, seriously mangaka is so generic and so badly lacks the originality here that its getting ridiculous) then Yuki of course offers her ticket saying she cant go, and that Risa should take her spot and go to the concert with Utsu.

Then Yuki whispers to Utsu that Risa is a lovely girl and he should work hard. But Utsu is too heartbroken at this moment as he was waiting for his time with Yuki but she just throws it away like its nothing and Utsu thinks why are you saying that Kurokawa.

Back at work Utsu is still heartbroken and depressed. That even the colleagues ask Risa what is the matter with Utsu today but Risa doesn’t know either.

Then we switch to the annoying Yuki reading some magazine and Utsu calling her telling its him and asking her to go out for a bit.

When Yuki sees him and tells him to come up, but Utsu says it is alright as he does not want to make a scene with her cousin (Oh for gods sake!)

Then Yuki asks if he wants to ask something and Utsu says yes, he is returning her the ticket she gave to Risa, and put it in the mailbox.

Yuki asks why, because she gave her ticket away because she was thinking of his well to begin with, so what for he did such thing?!

Utsu thinks that she is misunderstanding him.

And Utsu answers – though you are saying you are doing this to me, this ticked was bought and I was invited by Kurokawa and not by someone else, so how can she decide, what if he wanted to go there with Kurokawa!

And thinks ‘Waah I said it’

We can’t see Yuki’s eyes as she answers - Really… what a troublesome guy you are. Wasting such an opportunity.

And then adds with a smile ‘A true idiot.”

I think I start like this Utsumi character. At least he isn't act like harem manga main character who just have crush in every female he met. He actually knows what he wants and act like a man to face his own feeling. From this chapters I think Utsumi is certain that he likes Yuki now. But the problem is the Yuki side. The more I look into the latest chapters, the more I think she is not as tough as she look in the earlier chapters. This actually making me hook into Yuki character than other female character in the manga. It makes me wonder may the traumatic past that made her act tough to lick her wound which is haven't healed until now.

And for the Yuki's statement about Utsumi being an idiot. I actually saw that as she was happy about Utsumi actually want to go the concert with no one but her
