When I think of anime characters, and I think "bombshell", the first two names that pop into my head are Eli Ayase and Mami Tomoe. Eli is definitely a total beauty.

My issue with the designs... too much side tails/buns/whatever...

No short hair "tomboy" looks... QQ Rin-chan... Makoto-kun...

Interesting cat-like style. Very sharp pointy chins on diamond-shaped faces giving a pronounced effect to the eyes, forehead, and hair. Huge hands. Highly impressive attention to detail on the clothes, with the clothes being very well-chosen and well-drawn.

I think most of μ's works reasonably well in this artistic style. For some reason that I can't put my finger on, I think it might even improve Kotori's look. She looks really great here.

For some of μ's, it gives them a bit of a new vibe. Umi gains a sweet seductive edge, and Eli looks like she could be a truly intimidating Russian mobster

Seriously, Eli looks like she could fit right in Jormungand or Black Lagoon with that look.

Might be a good style for an anime about μ's in their early 20s, as this does make them seem a bit older to me.

We will have to wait and see what this project is about before we start a new thread. Could be a LN side project from Dengeki for all we know.

Thanks for that. I'd put Nico in with Kotori, as somebody who might even have an improved look in this style. Excellent expression on Nico's face in her pic.

Is this going to be a new group or is this a AU with new character designs? would be nice if it were an AU because it would be hard to top what they already have.

The day has come. Love Live has it's own shop in Harajuku. It will be open for a limited time though from April to July only. Hopefully it will still be a big thing and it will be like the permanent Evangelion store.

I had to laugh though since entry is determined by lottery. Yeah I can imagine that they had to do this otherwise the store will be jam pack for the next few days.

Yeah, looks like the girls in Love Live Sunshine were inspired by μ’s, but are in an altogether separate part of the country.

That said, holy heck, I'm reminded of both Bamboo Blade and Saki all of a sudden.

Agreed. Sounds like a pretty colorful cast of characters. Thanks for sharing this!

My main takeaways:

1. There's a lot of personality overlap between them and μ’s. Which is good. Should make it easier for Love Live! fans to transition to this new main cast. At the same time...

2. Sounds like the setting for this is very different (moral rural?) than what it was in Love Live! That change in setting/atmosphere might let it stand on its own two feet better.

3. One talked about her "helping my cute childhood friend's plan" and another said "I just can’t leave that girl, my best friend, alone, so...". So right off the bat, there's good potential here for yuri relationships.

4. One of them gives me a chuunibyou vibe. That could be fun!

5. The last one has an athletic tomboy edge that sounds promising.

I'm hoping its a new anime series, but my brief search of the Sunrise website didn't turn anything up on Love Live! Sunshine. :-/

OTOH, this is an almost perfect name for a Sunrise show.
