Now if you knew you could die/torture/never use your chakra again if you didn?t follow someone?s orders, wouldn?t you call that "No free will" since if you displease the person controlling it(oro-san),they could simply inflict some punishment on you. That to me most likely is how the curse seal operates.

There are poisons that can damage the areas of the brain that are responsable for decision making and reasoning ability. This has the effect of making the person highly suggestable, effectively taking away one's free will. Perhaps the curse seal does something similar.

Also i believe the curibal cortext is what makes up the decision making part of the brain. Its what most criminals have screwed up ;D

Naruto is a anime, it has ALOT of things that the real world doesn't. Don't try to get a explanation on everything in the anime with realworld stuff..

Nope, it's been a while since I heard that.

I seem to recall something about venom extracted from a puffer fish, mixed with some other poisons doing that, but it really is just something I heard. Still even if it's just a rumor or urban legend, there's no reason why it can't be used to explain how the curse seal works.

Just to let you know,hisoka is my fav HxH character ;D he is simply awesome.
But anyways back to the Curse Seal thing.
With my theory,Tayuya can be reverted to Konoho's roster and Sasuke has a chance of escaping Oro-san other then killing him.

Another thing is,if a free will revoking curse can be applied...why cant a "Restore free will" jutsu be also applied?

By loss of free will, I assume it would be like when he first got the seal and everytime he tried to use his Sharingan he would collapse in pain but much worse. For instance everytime he would go against oro's wishes the seal would cause great pain in him.

I always took it as more of a "losing conscience" than a "Losing Will" type deal.

but as you can see they clearly of personalities. So it isnt like they are zombies. They joke they swear...and umm swear ;D make threat. Hell kimimaru is more of a zombie then any of them.

I think their power growth is limited once they start using the curse seal, so their only way to get stronger is through orochimaru. They lose their free will because they have to do what oro says if they want to become more powerful. Or it may be a refference to the fact that everybody with a curse seal is a possible body for orochimaru.

Yes,i know this thread runs a high risk of being closed due to the fact that there have been many previous threads on Curse Seals,but this thread was made to house & discuss everything on Curse seals which future posters to this thread may offer.

as far as I know there is...

Heaven seal -> Sasuke
Gaia Seal-> Kimimaro

one could argue that with these two names the other seals could be called,

Hell Seal, Fire Seal, Water Seal and so on.

The draw back to the curse seal is that it revokes your free will and limits your growth of power. Now we'll get into the latter another time...but the Free will has me wondering. How does one revoke free will? How do you define Free will? Is it your ability to make decisions? Your ability to decide that you like something? Your ability to form a opinion? And if so how does one revoke that ability with a Curse Seal? Have we seen any signs that this is possible. Or even remotely possible to this degree. That the brain chemistry is screwed up so they cant act on their own. No, the closest hint at any kind permant mind warping we see is Ibiki with his holy head. Also one could consider Mange one? but it wears off, via tsunda. I think it is FAR more likely that Oro-san put in with the seals a limiter of some kind and the ability to bring pain and or death. Now those wouldn?t have to mess with the mind but yet it would hold sway over them. Now is that possible? Yes indeed it is. Neji's Seal on his forehead can do the very same thing. It cant limit chakra that we know of but we know it can bring both pain and death.
