According to Chinese site qq The King of Fighters anime is in the works and will be on the air on the first quarter of 2016. no other information was given on the exact date or the studio working on the project. (If anyone would like to translate that would be helpful) There is also an live action series is in the works as well.

I think the anime would be based on KOFIV or an original story altogether.

the title is King of Fighters Destiny.

This thread now should be in the current anime. I am not spoiling much the first episode gave me goosebumps. I have they keep making more episodes all the way to verse arc.

It's pretty good. Not a fan of how it looks, but I like the story pacing so far.

Seems it will cover the first Orochi Chapter, aka "It all began in '94." At least that's what the credits reveal.

Saw the 1st episode of The King of Fighters: Destiny (I think it should get it's own TV Tropes page).
I notice some lip sync issues during the part where Kyo and his Dad were arguing. I wonder if the show was made for a Chinese audience hence the lip sync thing with the Japanese dub?

It also felt short. Also there was advert for KOF 97 for Android during the 2nd episode. Hmmm.....

The only thing i like is that they set the series during the present rather the 1990s.

Because the characters uses Iphones and uses the word Facebook.

Benimaru is not smart, I don't like this version.
Kyo is more friendly, kind of weird.
Daimon, I don't know what to say yet.

And Kyo and Daimon are that smarter than Benimaru?

Well, there wasn't much more room for characterization in the original games but they retconned some things like how Kyo met Benimaru and Daimon. The three of them originally participated in a tournament and Kyo beat both of them but they became friends. Even the manwhua followed this.

Still, if I remember well, in the Orochi arc, Kyo and Benimaru often got in fights and Daimon had to stop them. Wonder when will Iori Yagami will be introduced considering the Orochi's legend being mentioned in the opening.
