Madhouse is already busy for whole year. They are doing Mahouka and No Game no Life. some speculate they are also doing Terraformars.

Actually this is good because a 2 cour (or more) show means it'll get to the good parts, the turning points. Gona be looking forward to how the character designs turn up.

You know it isn't confirmed that the anime will be two cours long, right?Studio Pierrot is no guarantee, they had done plenty of shows that have 12 episodes.

I know I'm speaking hypothetically.

Confirmed for Summer 2014. Initial cast announced is Natsuki Hanae, Sora Amamiya, and Kana Hanazawa.
They'll have a PV at AnimeJapan.

I have mixed feeling on Hanae's casting as Kaneki.
Probably because I always have envisioned Fukuyama for that role.

Just heard about this. This seems really promising, but I'm a bit worried of Pierrot. They're a very uneven studio.

The fact that they will be releasing a PV nearly 3 months before the premiere is promising.

Lol, no, there is no point in doing this manga if there are less than 26 episodes. Like... at all
Really hope for naruto-like long running show (not likely though)

Well it's strange
I don't know the manga well okay then.

I was thinking more of an anime like "Another" or "Ghost hunt"
Something short but strong horror story.

The advantage of short anime is also the quality , at least it's more bearable than >90 bad quality episodes.

No, it has horror elements, but it's mostly action manga. Naruto might be not the best thing to compare to though... Darker than Black maybe? But anyway - 13 episodes won't do any good here, as the first quarter (at least) of manga is just a premise.

I'm really looking forward to this. I decided to read the manga yesterday and I'm glad I did. It's unfortunate that the English scanlations are so far behind, but the group working on it is doing a nice job.

Yeah 1 cour wouldn't make sense, even from a sales point of view, it'd flop.
They need to cover up to vol 8.

I still want Saiga back from the PV, Hanae's kinda ok I suppose.

Agreed, especially if Miwa's going to be actively participating in the animation. While Yamada seems to have a decent resume, I wonder if he's suited for this anime though; I'd imagine the OST/BGM would carry a pretty hefty weight for this series.

But by this logic, it would flop anyway because compared to the good parts the earlier parts are just not worthwhile right? Who's going to stick around for that long till it "gets good"? Admittedly, Tokyo Raven has other issues as well, but I think the slow plot contributes quite a bit to the poor sales.

I think the earlier arcs of Tokyo Ghoul have merits too, they just seem inferior in retrospect cause the later parts are even better. I'd still watch this if it's one cour, then again my standard is pretty darn low (if Amamiya delivers as Touka that's all I care about for the most part). Maybe the Goth themes would boost a niche popularity, the masks are insanely cute afterall

Even with 26 episodes there is a low chance they will reach that point anyway. Besides Kaneki has been a pretty good and realistic character even before the plot got to that event.

But in any case I agree that one cour would suck for this, not to mention there is no decent stopping point in the earlier chapters aside from one particular "fight".

Tokyo Raven?

I mean if it's done well it could still sell enough for a 2nd season I suppose. And since these kinds of gothic horror/gore action stuff isn't in abundance the fanbase might take an extreme liking to the series.
