Break Blade (Broken Blade), the TV version, is based on the previously released OVA series with new footage expected to be added in. As such, spoiler information is readily available. You'd have to be more specific as to what "new footage" pertains, because if it means "scenes they took out or changed from the manga" then there are going to be issues. XD

I don't really see the manga being problem as long as you're comparing what has been shown in the TV episode(s) versus what exists in any prior incarnation up to the same point in the story. (Under properly labeled spoiler tags, of course.) For example, say in episode 3, the TV version introduces a new character the same way as the OVA did and you want to compare that against how he was introduced in the manga, that's okay. (Under properly labeled spoiler tags, of course. I say that a lot, don't I?)

Basically, while the TV version may reuse most of its footage from the OVAs, treat the discussion just as you would for any brand new adaptation.

Old opening song was SO much better.

EDIT: From what I could see, new intro, expanded scenes on Cleo's first battle. Some scenes were redrawn and some scenes were darker (throne room scenes)

No attention is better than bad attention.
Another forum disucssed about the manga in the past years. They always lile to riducue the tite as NTR Blade and the hero's name should be called Useless, but the story it does not have NTR plot and the hero is not useless. After many years, they finally figure out that the joke is getting old.

I was interested in this anime due to the robot technology in the ancient world setting. However, the sexy archaelogist is a good plot device. The show reminds me about Escaflowne and Orguss 2. I wonder how to categorize this show. Maybe it should be called arcane mecha steampunk. Last Exile is steampunk without mecha. Some technology cannot be explained by science, so it could be arcane.

Join the club dude. I've been waiting for the sub & still no word. This is one of my fave mecha series, so its really annoying to wait so long just to see it.

That's not truth anime changed pretty much only HOW some people died, but result was pretty much same. It would be easy continue from that point.

Decent first episode, but nothing I didn't already see. -_-

Spoiler for Comparison between the anime & OVA:

Anime episode 1 was a near exact copy & paste of OVA 1. All it did was rearrange the order of the scenes & shorten them. In this sense, the anime is actually more accurate than the OVA to the manga (Since the order of the scenes match up), but at the same time, doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

Also notable was the fact that the reused scenes from the OVA were shorted/cut by a noticeable amount here & there in the anime. Makes sense, since it needs to be fitted to TV format.

A good start, but I am disappointed of what they did to Sigyn. She was not as clingy as she was in the OVA.

So far I'm really liking it. Even though there are gundams involved it doesn't feel like another mecha clone so far

I've not watched the OVAs yet, but I heard that the TV series essentially consists of scenes cut from the OVAs to form the episodes. Is there any reason why I should not just watch the OVAs instead?
