According to a press release cited by Gamersyde (among others), a demo will be available around the end of the month...
  • 31 August: North America;
  • 1 September: Europe;
  • 2 September: Australia
I'm not sure why simultaneous global release isn't the norm these days, though... but that is a gripe best explored elsewhere.

A demo hmm? I wonder if it will be on Steam, so I can try it out. Since I'm loving all these trailers I've seen of this game.

Unlikely, since this is only a 360/PS3 release.

So what was the demo like, and your overall thoughts about it?

The demo is siiiick. I loved the controls...it all felt so smooth transitioning from rocket slide to matrix mode, to melee, to cover, and pretty much everything else. Aiming felt pretty good so far, and the weapons are really satisfying to use. And wow, way to cap off the demo with an intense boss battle!

My only concern at the moment is that evading seems to break the game...I can mash the 'x' button and pretty much stay near invulnerable until I find more reliable cover to recharge health and boost.

But overall, I'm absolutely in love with it so far and will most likely buy it day 1 depending on how busy I am. And yeah, there's a f*cking "smoke break" button, lol.

I have two complaints, most importantly - Why did they made melee attack drain your gauge?! And drain alot it did!

Also, I find the 'cover' at times hard to use... As in, it doesn't work as well as I thought it would.

Because that's the only way to let you get killed, aside from being retarded. That's what I feel about the demo. The enemies can hardly touch me, even with all those bullets and missiles rain.

So judging from all the opinions, this game is mostly like a "God-Hack" game where you can mostly dodge like 4000 bullets unless your fingers get tired from spamming a certain dodge button, or going matrix-style on missles to evade it with ease.

Also on the smoke break =

Does the smoke break have any mechanical benefits or is it just entirely for "cool factor"?

I suppose its a "cool factor" like how in Conker "Bad Hair Day" you got to smoke when your killing teddies, just to look cool, I dont see how exactly smoking would benefit you

No, you can't go crazy on the slow mo and rocket boost. THe Gauge that powers both isn't exactly short, but isn't long either and it could get quite addictive to run and gun in slow mo all the time only to find yourself stuck in open field without any juice

Yep, life experience.

Well there was still the opinion stating that you can basically still dodge every bullet sent at you with a certain button, also atleast they balanced that.. It would have been God-Mode either way without cheats if you can use it alot.

It is scientifically proven to make your rocket knees slide 30% more effectively. Sci-ence.

Yeah, I personally found it pretty hard to die if I didn't want to. I guess you can still get injured a bit when mashing the "evade" button, but it reduces the chance of death by A LOT, and I generally found it easy enough to dodge my way to cover and let my health regenerate. And when your health gets low enough, you automatically go into matrix slow-mode which helps you get out of a jam.
