On that matter....how many Kaiju are in the movie again? Do you think that during the movie they'll be several of the same types fighting the Jaegers?
I read a commentary by a person who said an advanced screening who said the movie had 10-15 kaiju in it.

And it seems almost guaranteed at this point that the Kaiju are biological weapons. The trailers suggest it, and the combination of the Kaiju's physiology and behavior makes it seems highly likely. What kind of normal animal deliberately hangs around some place (a city) as it slowly gets cut to pieces by a prolonged military bombardment over the course of a couple of days? A normal animal would wanna leave. Kaiju behavior is purpose built around wrecking civilizations by stomping them, and forcing natives to splatter kaiju goo all over their cities.

You can see those in the Pan Pacific Defense Corp website under "Shatterdome".

So after about 10 years the Kaiju just started coming out of the woodworks in a "human wave" attack style. No wonder the Jaegers got overwhelmed. It was literally a Zerg rush.

Something I just realized about this graph.

The year that a Jaeger got introduced in correlates with it's mark. All the Mark 1's (Yukon Brawler, Coyote Tango, Tacit Ronin) are from 2015. Diablo intercept (mark 2) is 2016, and Gipsy Danger is 2017, Tyhpoon/Cherno are 2018, and Striker Eureka are 2018.

At peak strength, the Pacific Rim defense corp consisted of

5 Mark I's
4 Mark II's
5 Mark III's
5 Mark IV's
2 Mark V's

Okay, so they like nommings when the nommings occur out of sight, and not right in front of them on the dinner table.

That dropoff in Kaiju attacks in 2023? Seems like it.

There's also the per unit cost of Jaegers. Striker Eureka was something like 100 billion, and I cant imagine the others being THAT much cheaper. And there were a total of 21 of them. At some point the funding nations were probably looking for more cost effective alternatives to jaegers, especially when Kaiju attacks seemed to die down.
