deep storyline suggestions please
hi my friend and i really enjoy deep storylines. ones that get you so involved that you can't leave the computer until you have finished the series. it doesn't matter if the anime is new or old. we prefer shorter series, so no DBZ stuff... -.-' . i'm not sure how to describe it in any other way. thanks for your help.

Not sure what you mean by "Deep" (maybe using DBZ as an example kinna threw me off) >.>
Like just a storyline that seems to follow itself without much random arcs or something "Intelligent-like" kind off deep where it actually forces you to think a bit to be able to understand the whole plot?

My favorite example would be Boogiepop Phantom.

Adding Ergo Proxy - Post-Apocalyptic humans live in domes kinna thing and Rahxephon - Better Eva IMO without the over-Emo male lead

Elfen Lied wasn't bad, but far from intelligent , just a big lump of fanservice.
I don't think Mushishi fits there either, I mean I watched while being braindead >.> when something happens you just know it's caused by a Mushi.

Tōka Gettan had a story line so deep, it was like falling into a mineshaft in the first episode, so that I never watched any more after the second episode... Then again, the story may have been simple, but the way they told it was deeply confusing to me.

About Mushi-shi, I think it's intelligent. It's just a feeling.

In Mushi-shi, it is never a mystery what is causing the trouble. The deeper element is how the influence of these mushi illuminates the nature of humanity by making some small change to the way humans interact with the world. It is quite deep, just not surprising.

My Recommendations for this type are: Kanon 2006 - This was very deep for me... You should really see this if you haven't already ^^ Elfen Lied - for the reasons I stated Boogiepop Phantom - already mentioned Ergo Proxy - already mentioned Higurashi no naku koro ni - already mentioned I would recommend Fullmetal Alchemist, but I guess you're not seeking for something like that.

Anyway, as deep it might be perceived in terms of message and the likes, Elfen Lied doesn't really fit the requirement of "deep where it actually forces you to think a bit to be able to understand the whole plot?", does it? As for actual recommendations - this thread seems to be quite similar so it might be helpful for the original poster.

I am perfectly serious, what exactly is unclear or that complicated in Elfen Lied's plot, it's quite easy to understand and follow unlike say Higurashi.
As for the fanservice, combining excessive nudity and violence is pretty much an ultimate form of fanservice but that's quite a different topic, so let's not go into it.
