Source for news on second season
Brilliant news, more Hidamari Sketch makes me very happy. The whole Hidamari Sketch X 365 could possible be one of the best names i've ever heard.

I was about to put this up...oh well, its already been made here....well, it doesn't really matter anyway...here goes: -
Title: Hidamari Sketch x 365 Japanese Title: ひだまりスケッチ x 365 Genre: Seinen, Comedy, Slice of Life Premiere: 2008 Animation Studio: Shaft Director: Akiyuki Shinbo and Ryouki Kamitsubo Original creator: Ume Aoki Character Design: Yoshiaki Ito Official Website: ???? A second season for Hidamari Sketch called Hidamari Sketch x 365 has been announced at the Hidamari Sketch event called Chou Hidamatsuri that was held today. Hidamari radio will also start in 2008 Jan and will run for a year with Asumi Kana as the main personality. My Thoughts: That it will another excellent series like the first season and will probably be short one as well with perhaps 12 to 13 episodes long. Ah well, this new information put a BIG smile on my face. |

I assume they're trying to say something like "every day of the year" or "all the time", since the original series was 12 episodes for a single day in each month of one school year and the new series covers even more days of the year (the same year?). Kinda sorta like "Hidamari Sketch Forever!" (There are 365 days in a year except, ironically enough, next year since it's a leap year. )

I was just saying to a friend, wouldn't it be something if they did 365 episodes? How silly, though...there's not enough money for even 36.5 episodes, I'm sure. ^___^ Still, I'm hopeful...Aria started out with 12 and their next season was 24 (or 13 and 26...whatever).

I've in a sense finished the series, but I'm definitely waiting for the subs as well. Watching raw was fun, but watching again in a more understandable form is even better Either way I have a feeling with the second season, I'll be watching the raws again.

This is, to put it politely, fabulous news. Twelve more episodes of Yunnochi angst, Miyako exuberance, Hiro sweetness, Sae discomfort, and Yoshinoya Yoshinoyaness. Next year can't come fast enough.
I doubt there will be many more Great Secrets learned -- Sae certainly won't be sharing any. But it's going to be just lovely, I can tell.

Hidamari Sketch x365
Title: ひだまりスケッチx 365
Alternate Title(s): Hidamari Sketch x365 (Sunshine Sketch x365) Genre: Comedy, Slice-of-life, iyashi, Links: Official site: http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/hidamari/ aniDB: http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=5571 The official site lists a premiere airdate as 1/25, but http://cal.syoboi.jp/ doesn't show it on that day. However, I don't read Japanese past kanas (and that pretty badly), so someone more knowledgeable than I could tell us all more? Based on: again, the yonkomi (four-panel comic) by Aoki Ume, which is ongoing in Japan in Manga Time Kirara Carat (Houbunsha). (More info here.) ====================================== Comments: Since there was NO character progression and almost no plot progression in the first series (this isn't a complaint -- I adored the first series), there is little in the way of continuity or development that could be messed up by more anime. There is also more manga to draw material from, so the writing is likely to be up to the same standard. I hope the animating studio keeps the same, odd style and I also hope they don't release any broadcasts like ep 10, with the missing Mt. Fuji at the sento. Questions at this time: 1. How many episodes? I could live with 12, but 24 more would be wonderful. 2. Can someone find out an airdate? (If one is set, yet...you never know...) |

First time I heard x365, I really wish it would be 365 episodes but maybe aired on summer 2008 so there will be enough material for 24-26 episodes.
Hoping Tetsunagi Kō ni (another Aoki Ume work) will be animated sometime in the future too
