I have to agree with @Kanon here. None of these games scream NEXT GEN.
I'm excited for some of them (Horizon, RE8, Demons Souls) but they will have to try harder to make me buy new console. Also, Ghostwire Tokyo looks so disappointing. Can't believe this's game of Shinji Mikami. |

Actually there's a lot of subtle showing off of the major new feature of the PS5: the SSD.
Notice how in the Horizon trailer everything look so massive or how in Ratchet and Clank the game keeps switching between worlds without loading? The Horizon bit might be a bunch of tricks to make it look larger than it is but the little slowdown during the ratchet bit is a dead giveaway that that one was actually a running game. I was already expecting this generation to be a hard sale for most people since most of the improvements (SSD and CPU) don't particularly translate to better graphics so much as they mean more characters on screen, improved loading times and less pop-in. Now what really disappointed me was the lack of ideas on show. There was a lot of more indie stuff which is good but not many things screaming "must have". The most interesting thing was that weird Capcom game with the astronaut in times square and the little girl but that's a 2022 game. How bad is the lineup if they need to tease 2 years in advance?

Both the Ratchet & Clank gameplay and the Resident Evil Village trailers showed subpar framerates. Eliminating loading screens is nice, but if it comes at the cost of performance then it is not as significant generational cap as they claim it to be.

Got my hands on the PS5 during its launch in Australia today.
As advertised, its huge size helps keep it cool and is generally silent unless the disc drive is reading something. The DualSense controller is the main differentiator between it and the Xbox Series X. Adaptive triggers and haptic feedback might become standard in controllers after this generation. The adaptive triggers simulate tension in different scenarios and context. The haptic feedback allows you to sense the direction in which sounds are coming from in a game as well as differentiate between different terrains. Haven't tried the 3D audio yet (waiting to get headphones) but it will probably work in addition to the haptic feedback for a complete experience.

Read a lot of positive feedbacks on the DualSense controller, and I'm really quite curious to test it out myself. I have no idea when I'll buy a PS5 though, probably when a really big exclusive that isn't cross-gen releases.
And I have a question I'm not sure anyone can answer but I'll ask it anyway: I know some games like Spider-man Miles Morales offer you a choice between native 4k + ray tracing at 30 fps or dynamic 4k without ray tracing at 60fps. For people like me who still have a 1080p TV, isn't there a way to have ray tracing and 60fps?

I’m not in a hurry to buy a ps5. Ff16 is the big game on the system and it doesn’t even have a release date. No current games appeal to me yet. Might judge after I get my tax return but won’t make a decision in the meantime.

As for the Spidey thing: AFAIK you only have 2 options there: 1080p 60fps where the game looks very close to the PS4 Pro game just with high frame rate, or the 30fps 4K option with raytracing. No mixing and matching sadly. Also, my personal take, it would probably not be doable to have ray tracing at the lower target frame rate. Even with the lower resolution it would probably end up being too costly and the game would hover around the 50fps mark (which, without a variable refresh rate screen, makes it really uncomfortable. An example of that is the unlocked FPS mode of FF XV on the PS4 Pro)
