Any gag dealing with the chairman I think is a great example. Its totally ludicrous but done with a straight face. It didnt seemed adgitated or tacked on like a lot in humor in manga seems to be in my opinion. Its done in this super serious yet tounge in cheek way. It just blends naturally in the pace of the story and the world. This as opposed to normal manga texture where itlk be drama then BAM 180 degree turn into comedy then BAM 180 DRAMATIC u turn again. Thats not the whole story though. The ordeal of the boys being in the slammer and how they deal with it is for the most part played with a straight dramatic face and is thrilling on its own merits. All tye while there is this undercurrent of delerious lunacy that bursts forth from time to time. Its the sum of its parts. The unique whole that makes it great. The ecchi is believe it or not icing. Intrinsict to the cake but not the whole cake. If you HAVE to put it in a genre box then qt the end of the day yea its comedy but NOT exclusively so. Its like the perfect blend of absurdist comedy and.dramatic suspense. I think the art plays a role in that. Sorry for the ramble.just a huge fan who wants to see a unique title.done right. Hopefully Hirasawa doesnt beat a dead horse and ends it not too far in the future. Dont know how long you can keep the concept up without getting stale. Plus wed get a definitive anime adaptation from a to z. |

I don't see how this can be done.
There is no way this can be done. One does not simply see the way how this can be done. I mean, for starters, how are you going to censor this thing!? And even if they somehow get around the BDSM, the watersports, Hana-chan, the Vice President... They're going to need like, Royal Shakespeare Company's level of dramatic mastery to get away with making such glorious intrigue and drama and heroism out of a certifiably insane absurdist ecchi comedy. This is either going to crash in a complete wreck or be the greatest anime ever. Either way I will be fine with it, but I will never forgive them if this anime turns out to be okay. Anything but okay. |

Ah see, Master Irenicus gets it! (unless he's being sarcastic in which cause NUTS TO YOU FINE SIR).
The direction is CRUCIAL here because of that magnificent balance of absurdist comedy and engaging suspense. The original voice or at least style of the author is gonna be REAL hard to maintain. I can understand the OKAY IS NOT OKAY sentiment. If it bombs it's easy to ignore, if it's a master adaption, then the staff would deserve EXQUISITE sexual favors of the highest order. If it's just there, it's a big hulking mass of WHAT IF.......... ah well. nothing ta do but wait an see eh? |

I seriously think Liden Films would do the job for this anime since they usually have good visuals and I guess the animation might be consistent to watch, hope it doesn't end up like Terra Formars's action-esque slideshow display.
