The anime website is open, with key visual: http://anime.senbura.jp/

The art is kind of meh, but then I'm sure the animation will be meh, too. But it's a pity because I think the Oda and the Toyotomi (and the Date) have the best designs in the game. And it's going to be Toyotomi vs Oda main, with focus on the Toyotomi? I wonder why... I would have thought the Oda team was going to be the focus, it has better, or at least more charismatic characters. Well, more characters I'm interested in, at any rate. (Plus the seiyuu for poor Mitsunari sucks, I really hope he's taken some lessons.) And they're not ditching the heroine, boo!

God help me, I'm still not over how adorable Masamune's ears are. I just want to scratch them and turn them inside out and flap them around...

Apropos Masamune, they recently released the preview for his theme song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96ag3lIr1Ec
(Considering the seiyuu and the lyrics, I really want to see a fan video of Charioce singing this. )
For those of us wanting to hear Konishi Katsuyuki sing, here's Shingen's: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZirtdhmkR8

Starts on October 3, actual PV released:

This... actually looks better than I expected, of course given that my expectations were "bottom of the barrel" that doesn't say much. Anyway, it seems like it's going to follow the Toyotomi story, which is, eh... I would have much preferred the Oda or Takeda story, if anything. I really wonder why the Toyotomi ended up in focus, Team Oda has bigger name seiyuu and the more charismatic characters, Team Date has Masamune who is probably the most popular historical figure in the story along with Nobunaga and Yukimura... and the Takeda story is just fun in general. Oh well.

(And damn, it's taking itself seriously. I would have appreciated a Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru type show better...)

Is it just me going deaf in my old age, or was the sound mixing really off in this episode? Sometimes I could barely make out the dialogue. You know there's a problem when you have Morita Masakazu doing some of his best hot-blooded shouting and you can barely make it out...

Anyway, yay, this episode didn't suck completely? It was honestly better than I expected (then again, I expected it to be really, really terrible). And yay, it seems that the guy who plays Mitsunari got a dialogue coach, he was less painful to listen to than in the game. But still, it's always a pity when a show with a completely bonkers setting like this one (Sengoku era... but with vampires and werewolves! cute, fluffy ears and tails! bloodsucking as obvious stand-in for other naughty business! Shimazaki Nobunaga playing Akechi Mitsuhide! and so on) completely ignores the fun and decides to take itself seriously. At least the game embraces the silliness of the characters and the cuteness factor inherent in the kemonomimi situation. I wonder if the anime will also have the heroine giving ear scratches or listening to Yukimura recounting how he used to play fetch with his brother. Or trying to handle Masamune's chronic tsundere problem...

(Also, I'm not sure what's going on with the "heroine vision" but I guess it's a stylistic choice? At least they're trying to do something.)

And they'd better make a special ending for all clans...

I didn't notice any problems with the sound. But then again, I use hearing aids, so my ability to hear well is suspect to begin with. Where I had objections with the production values was with the lighting. Everything was overly lit and looked washed out. That may have been an artistic choice. If it was, it wasn't a choice I would have made.

Overall, I liked the episode and will watch more.

Yes, the color/lighting was also pretty weirdly over the top washed out (and all those lens flares), that must have been on purpose... along with that weird thing where suddenly everything is in sepia. I'm not sure what they're trying to achieve but I guess props for trying.

Isekai and reverse harem? Both questionable premises set up abominably in ep 1? And of course, wimpy heroine. Not watching ep 2. I didn't watch ep 1 very closely, but the boys seemed divisible into carefree or serious camps, and frequently not very distinguishable otherwise.

Well, damn. Yet another case of a story sharing elements that are very similar to one that I thought up, but kept it to myself.
...Should I start wearing a tin foil cap?

And it's based on a smartphone game, eh? That...explains a few things.
Still, I like stories that take place in that era, so I'll give it a shot.

I'm honestly impressed with Mitsunari's seiyuu, he sounds so much better than he did in the game. I kind of hope now that the game will get more Mitsunari content in the future - he's a cute character but so far it's been just painful to listen to him.

Anyway, can someone (*cough*Nobunaga*cough*) please kidnap the girl already? :S I really like Toshiie and I'm coming around for Mitsunari now that I don't have to mute him whenever he talks, but them aside there are so much better and more fun characters around.

Mitsunari was adorable tsun. It looks like his seiyuu is new, sort of. ANN only has him listed for two anime roles. This one and a five minute anime from 2009. Kind of makes me wonder what he's been doing between 09 and now. Perhaps either roles so small he wasn't named or non-anime stuff, or he just wasn't working.

Mitsunari's seiyuu is a stage/musical actor, apparently. If you listen to his interview on the official website, he has a really nice voice, but his pronunciation in the game is terrible, and I wonder how it never came up during his stage career.* But he improved a lot for the anime. SNB has a number of complete rookies, for example for Toshiie's seiyuu this was his very first voice job (he's doing pretty well, considering).

And yes, the tsun is adorable, although the tsundere king of SNB is Masamune. One of my favorite Masamune skits goes along the lines of:

Masa: So beautiful.
Heroine: Ah, do you mean...
Masa: Huh? Don't be ridiculous, I was talking about the sunset.
Heroine: Oh. Of course you were, haha.
Masa: You're not bad, either.
Heroine : !! Did you, just now--
Masa: I meant the sunset! Gah!

Too bad this is probably not going to be in the show.

*Oh, I guess this is why it never came up.

Speaking of Nobunaga, I like his design. It has a "dracula-ish" feel to it.

Imo. I would't compare them...Touken Ranbu is like the male counterpart of Kantai Collection (I mean this because of certain mechanics both share), the setting for TR and SNB is also different.

If I were to compare something, it'd be the sheer amount of possible characters both can have. Sengoku/Warring States period has many famous warriors, generals and strategists; and there's also a large number of famous swords throughout japanese history.

I guess it all boilds down to preference and tastes?

There's an absolutely criminal underutilization of the kemonomimi cuteness factor in this show. All those cute, fluffy ears and tails! Who wouldn't want to pet them?! Who wouldn't want to see them twich and wag? (Any sane person, you say? We all have our moe points...) Ah, so many missed opportunities for fanservice... I hope they'll make up for it in the next episode.

And eh, nobody kidnapped the girl. Come on, Nobunaga, you fail at being an evil overlord. I really hope she gets away from the Toyotomi soon... At least this time we got Shingen's song as the ending, yay. Apparently the full version is getting released on November 15.

(It's even better in the game!) And the anime even gave him a suitably ominous-looking European-style castle. It's Oda Nobunaga, after all.

The ED theme for this episode, "Kurosomare", was pretty good. Possibly my favorite so far.
There was also a nice touch in the lyrics, when "Yume" was heard, but in the lyrics showed the kanji "Yabou", a reference to Nobunaga's Ambition

Still don't know what these Yakuma are...I just label them as "Raging Fangirls" that are jealous of Yuzuki XD
