Episode 1 is up on Funimation
Pretty entertaining episode. A lot of teasing as expected coming from Alice due to the nature of her personality. The CGI-like character designs is something to get used to but I feel like they managed to capture the magic of the character chemistry from the manga. This served as an introductory episode but the Duke can be so awkward when confronted by Alice at times. She is so loyal to him yet always looks ways to tease him. She geninuely seems love being around him. Ha, they even had the cookie scene even with the tease from the trailer.

Now out on Funimation!
When fate sticks you with the ability to kill anything you touch and basically turns you into an outcast that everyone, including your family, shuns...sometimes life balances that out by giving you a hot, busty, childhood friend maid who will aggressively flirt and tease you while flipping her skirt to show off her fishnet leggings . The Opening is like a perfect romcom Opening. It even has the leads basically serenading each other . Natsuki Hanae does a great job of playing awkward, emotional, and exasperated leads, so no wonder he was cast as The Duke . Find a girl like Alice who seems utterly enraptured by every part of you and will risk death itself just to be close to you and flirt as hard as possible. She doesn't outright say it yet, but it's pretty clear she's in love with the Duke, and that's why she's so dedicated to him. Considering they're childhood friends, I have to imagine he did something when they were young that made her love him so much. I wonder if she has a picture of him in her locket ? It's cool having Sayaka Ohara as a mom, but less so when she basically rejects you and ships you off to an isolated villa because she wants nothing to do with you . That girl in twintails is the Duke's sister? I wonder if she'll defy her mother and come visit him ? Poor Duke...he was so excited to see an old childhood friend who he thought would accept him, but Philip only came over to steal his maid and because the Duke's mother asked him to check on him because she's planning to disinherit him. At least he's still got Alice . Nothing quite makes an impact like the Ending kicking in as the Duke unintentionally swears himself to Alice with a flower, and the Ending, while simple, is a beautiful serenading song courtesy of Ayumi Mano .

I thought I'd be bothered by the CGI, but when I saw the show has breasts physics, I thought they nailed the most important part
Alice is definitely going to be the main draw, here. She's completely head over heels for her master and is a total tease. I know she teases him to make him flustered, but being shown her body knowing I can never touch it would frustrate me to no end and just make me more miserable. Considering she will die if she touches him, gotta admire how far she's willing to go to tease and flirt with the Duke.

Good 1st episode. Covers most of the dynamics and also shows the background plot particularly with respect to his family. He is the eldest son and in the period it is depicted, by feudal primogeniture, he is the one who has inherited the title of his father, Duke. This means that the family is related to the royal family. With no father seen in the family dinner, he is effectively the Duke and head of the family. His mother seems to want to wrest the title away from him to his younger brother who is still young enough that she can control him.
With regards to Alice, she appears to know what is happening and has come to the Duke's side. Whether she actually likes him or not, she knows she has the advantage and playing it to the hilt by constantly flirting and teasing him. Some of the teases are just pure sexual harassment. The Duke is just too gentlemanly and very much aware of his curse to do anything about it. Plus, he longs for companionship so much that he latches on to what Alice offers him - even declaring his love for her, in part because there's no one else that he knows of that he even cares enough for him to be by his side. It's a very sad state of affairs. Quote:

However, nymphomania is a popular anime character type in male oriented manga.
Alice is supposedly a maid character(anime fantasy), but she wears hood. In fairytale setting, the dress would make her a witch in ceremony or a traveling princess. |

That is a brutal curse. What did he do to that witch when he was that ridiculously young? Also shouldn't his family get on having that witch hunted down? At least you limit the spread of horrific curses and at best you can force a cure out of her. This isn't like Beauty and the Beast where the Beast had limited resources to hunt down the one that cursed him.
Full props to Alice. Say what you want, but she is risking her life on a daily basis. Even if she wasn't messing with him, she's one clumsy moment (from either side) from getting killed. I don't think there's a question that she has romantic feelings for him. Definitely doesn't have to push things as far as she does. But if she didn't push it a little it's likely the MC would get crushed under the weight of how terrible his situation is. Something that hit home in a painful way with this Phillip visit. Not only having a former friend act like that, but knowing it was only because the MC's own mother ordered him to go. Can't even be bothered to make the trip to visit her one kid that is suffering from a curse like this.

Ahh, but people believed they could do such things. Of course, seeing them in action may change the mind of some people, but considering they already thought witches could do bad and dangerous things, I'm not so sure they would be deterred by seeing what they already believed in.

Don't know anything about the source material and only tunes in because I saw "Shinigami" in the title.
CG only needed a few seconds to get used to, but it was the OP that made me realize this was, at least, going to be a fun episode. And it was. Color me entertained and put me on-board. I've no idea where this is going, but this looks like a fun series to pass the time. |

We meet Rob, the superhuman butler dutifuly played by Hochuu Otsuka who has loyally served the Duke since he was a child and was one of the only people to stay by him when he was cast off. He's incredibly at housework but his old age is starting to get to him to where his eyesight and hearing are failing him (and not to mention he wears an eyepatch for some reason, so that probably doesn't help). Not to mention back problems .
Alice sure knows how to make an exit flashing her skirt and stockings . It's kind of sad that the Duke has made peace with the idea of his family disowning him and is planning to make a living with music if that happens. Although at least he does genuinely enjoy music, and plays very well, so it's not the worst situation . Pretty hard to resist staring at Alice's voluptuously body while she's working...and unsurprisingly the Duke lingers on her fine behind . That was a beautiful ballad the Duke composed for Alice . Nothing wakes someone quite up like an almost kiss . We get to properly meet the Duke's sister, Viola, and she's a pretty feisty and free-spirited girl who loves sweets and teasing her brother. She's very opinionated and quick to critique her brother, and it seems like part of the reason she visits him is just to get sweets or see Rob whom she has a massive crush on, but she does seem to genuinely want her brother to come home again and to help him with his relationship with Alice . That black cat was a true cat of culture, rubbing Alice's boobs and cutting her top up so she could show off her cleavage . Poor Duke finding a cat that was abandoned by its family like his mother abandoned him...but that cat was able to find a new family, just as the Duke still has family in Rob and Alice . The Duke's grandfather and Alice's mother were dancer partners? They're families really are connected . Alice and the Duke sharing a no-contact dance was very sweet, even if it was also sad because you could tell how much the pair wanted to touch each other . The Duke finally gets Alice to say her love for him out loud and she proudly proclaims how much she loves the Duke. Wasn't really any doubt about it, but it was nice to finally hear it .
