I think expecting some new Alolan forms is fair. Another battle facility is just me being greedy because I miss the battle frontier of gen 4.

I'm already 2 hours in guys.

The Japanese nintendo 3ds already let me download it from the eshop from when it turned to midnight in Japan.

I'm playing it in English. It's pretty da*n convenient.

This game is definitely more polished than the original, can confirm.

Edit: I can't wait for all the 'Nebby get back in the bag' memes to resurface.

I recall the midnoon form of the wolf or something. Is this something that is on Mystery Gift or did you have to preorder this game to get it? I can't remember the details...

It's a new form that's being distributed now. It evolves due to Rockruff having the Own Tempo ability I think, and that Rockruff is only available via event right now.

Also, I got my copy in way earlier this week, like early Tuesday, sasuga Amazon. I'm at the end of the game right now, just wish I could pop online to grab said Rockruff, but it's not legally released yet here in my country, so I've gotta wait.

I was hesitant to post about it because I know a lot of people have been playing with hacked 3DS's so I just turned my 3DS's wifi off and went to town on the game

I am so busy with Megami Tensei and Xenoblade is coming soon, so I'm not even sure how I am going to get to this game, but I guess I should just go ahead and buy it if I eventually intend to buy it...

Well, I recommend you get the special rockruff sooner rather than later since you can only get it through mystery gift until sometime in early January.

Well I beat the game

Spoiler for Story Spoilers:

The story is the exact same until the end of Ula Ula island where you go to Aether with Gladion and Hau, after that point until the end and the postgame is completely different. The story is better told this time, a bit longer, also the level curve is fucking great.
Finally, Gamefreak made the game with expecting the player to use the EXP share, so you can use it without being overleveled. The fight against Ultra Necrozma is easily the greatest "final boss" in the series, with it being 10 levels higher than you're supposed to be, having a ridiculous stat spread, and having +1 in all stats. The E4 also seemed harder this time, although the champion was disappointing. The Team Rainbow Rocket episode also had some challenging moments with the villains all having legendaries.

I also like the new trials, and new Pokemon in all areas. The new UBs and Necrozma forms are also good. Stakataka is OP with trick room. There's overall more stuff to do and they polished a lot of stuff and different areas. Mantine surfing and Ultra space traveling is more fun that I expected. I'm not one to do minigames usually in Pokemon games but I will for those

The Team Rainbow Rocket episode plays out like Delta Episode in ORAS, but I think it's a million times better. Mainly because of the future story implications and because ORAS pissed me off by dumbing down sky pillar, because I like those puzzle rooms. And so, since the Rocket castle plays out like a good old Team Rocket hideout with warp panels galore, Meowth statues, and spinning tiles, I was really happy to see that Gamefreak could still do those things.

As far as story goes, Giovanni is the only one that gets real development, but boy is it fucking good. Giovanni isn't specified to be from the USUM universe or not, but it doesn't matter. He knows everything about UBs, and plans to use them for multiversal domination. He implies that he used a UB on Lusamine to control her, but it isn't stated which one it was. Even when you beat him he says he wasn't going all out, and I suppose that's because he didn't use whatever UB he has. The scene at the end where he wonders what world he'll cause trouble in next was blatant foreshadowing for gen 8 or beyond. Delta Episode set up the multiverse for the future of the series, and now Episode RR has set up Giovanni/Team RR. Wonder where GF is going with this now, considering the episode was originally not supposed to be made.

Spoiler for Thoughts on Gen 7: But now that I've had a year with SM, and now USUM, I realized that I have a big issue with this generation that I haven't really had before. There's not much exploration in this gen/Alola. It started to bug me when I went back to gen 6 and even that had optional stuff to explore. And then there's the big complaint going around that USUM didn't need to be full games, and they should've been DLC or something. I mean, third/enhanced versions were fine back when, but then BW2 came along and were completely different, and better than BW in every possible way (except the story IMO), but now here we are back to another Crystal/Emerald/Platinum. I dunno, since it takes like 20 hours just to get to the changes, I question why they went back to this format. In gen 5 there was no remake, so they were able to go all out with a sequel instead of a redux. But gen 7 is in a weird position with gen 8 on the Switch coming in a year or two, and no remake, but just a third version. That's the first time Gamefreak has put that little into a generation since 2. Normally I think this warrants criticism but they deserve the benefit of the doubt here with the Switch jump coming soon. That and I noticed USUM has a new director that has never directed before. I just don't think they can get away with doing this on the Switch when the games become more expensive and with online service being a subscription. Just my few cents on that matter.

Still, with these, this means that we will be seeing this guy again. Probably in the Pokémon Switch game in development.
