You've misread the question as it wasn't referring to any after story dub it was a plain and simple as not a abbreviation of after story.

^^

Sorry that may have been at fault on my part for capitalising AS, I was meant to stress it, should have used "bold" instead.

No worries,

Thanks for that piece of information. Guess I have to wait for After Story =P

This is nobodies fault, so it's not a problem at all. I'm more excited about the dub release of After Story than the first season though, I'm interested in hearing how these VA's handle it.

Its seems a strange question to ask but in wtaching the heart wrenching bits did you feel the same way in both versions?
To answer this question, it's mixed. The most emotional episodes for me were 9 (end of fuuko's arc) 14 (end of kotomi's arc) and 22 (the play) I got more choked up in episode 9 of the Japanese version but I think hearing the words spoken in a language I speak made 14 and 22 more emotional for me than their Japanese counterparts. Then again, your mileage may vary.

I'm just getting the guess that they dropped it since there was not enough support for it.

Hi,

I am taking up the comment by DasDingus regarding key episodes which were emotional.

I thoguht I'd show you a comparison of a deep scene in which Kotomi has a breakdown when she sees that bus crash with a car.

Compare the English and Japanese dubs! I really think the Japanese puts the English to shame!

English Dub- Watch from 1:08

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEq_E...eature=related

Japanese Dub- Watch from 0:19
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZB40_...eature=related

Comments? I do know this may fit under the Video thread, but I just thoguht this scene provides a glimpse of comparing the scenes in English which are the be all or end all. Because emotional/crying/screaming scenes need to be very very good in English to be as close as possible to the Japanese.

I thought the English dub of the link above seemed weird. And I was very lucky to come across an English and Jap version of the same scene.

I think the English dub pulled it off fairly well. It wasn't spectacular, but to a new anime watcher I don't think it would've made a difference.

What I noticed in the dub was that they changed the name of the characters? Like if you watched Cardcaptor Sakura, that they made some small/large changes in the names. Or did I just mishear this and they din't change the name at all?

They didn't.

Their pronunciations were just westernised.

...

weirdly.

like ko-to-mi

became koe-toe-mi

lulz.

Well even if they pronounce the names a little different, its still good to see that instead of them changing the names to something completely ridiculous.

Nagisa's dub voice is horrible.

Seriously, dubs need to stop trying to voice small Japanese high school girls with soft voices using large, middle-aged American/Canadian women speaking with ridiculous falsettos.

FIND A FIFTEEN YEAR OLD TO DO IT. UGH.

I thought they actually did a very good job with Nagisa. She definitely has one of the more talented english VA inb the industry. It's Kyou that bugs most people.

Or they should've just got Carrie Savage to do it as she can (and she would've been my first choice for voicing Nagisa)

...Nagisa's voice-actor fits her just fine. Well, except that she should have done Kyou instead, who really does sound like a middle-aged woman in the dub...

I don't agree. I watched the show subbed, but went back and watched a few episodes dubbed just to compare (since I have the DVDs anyway, might as well), and ugh, I could not possibly watch this show dubbed. Nagisa's dub voice just grates on me so heavily.

Seriously, I think dub companies need to start hiring teenagers to voice teenagers, instead of making thirtysomethings speak in a horrible fakey falsetto.

Tomoya's voice is pretty awful, too. It's too deep and scratchy. He sounds like a heavy smoker.
