Well, for Teruyama it could be they just picked up the clothes on the way while searching for Yamada. We don't really know how much time has passed before they found him. All those clones need to wear something right? So there might be a some sort of wardrobe or something for that. But with Kafka there is no way he could've just picked up a new set of clothes.

Ynot's covered most of the pertinent details already, but to clear things up a bit:

- Arclight has already found 9 of the 12 stigmata users (he's "broken the seal" on 9 of the 12, whatever you think that might mean). Kafka and Uten are in charge of finding the remaining three. They now believe that Seto has a stigmata because she survived (literally "conquered") the Eden Seed injection, and are trying to force it to appear before they take her to Arclight.　Solva is indeed out of the fight for the time being, but I bet she'll find some way to get back into it (I'm pretty disappointed that she was beaten down so easily after her impressive outing in ch97, so this had better not be the end for her in this fight!).

- Mio doesn't really understand it herself, but she believes that the hand that saved Cruz way back at the PF Zero blast was an angel and that it somehow told her that Cruz must be protected. She doesn't want to fight, but she's not willing to let Cruz die. Setsuna's not buying it - she thinks that Mio has simply grown too soft and kind during her recent outings. She commands Teruyama to leave, which would place Mio in an unwinnable two versus one situation and hopefully force her to give up. Of course, this Teruyama isn't a clone, so that doesn't work out like she thought it would.

I think that Setsuna is in full on business mode here, as opposed to when we last saw her in a more casual atmosphere at the school. As a member of Simeon it is her job to kill Yamada for infiltrating the research facility. I have no doubt that she will eventually drop this attitude and ally herself (and Kuchinashi) with Cruz and Mio and friends, but I'm not really sure what will make this happen. I'm looking forward to finding out over the next few months.

Mio and Cruz are damn cute together, so I think (hope?) something more than the angel thing is going on here as well. The angel may be why Mio started protecting Cruz in the first place, and since then she's grown attached to him.

Any bets on who the other two stigmata holders are aside from Seto? Teruyama, maybe, since the spear regenerated him? We know that Saten has one, so perhaps other members of Simeon have them too and are counted under the nine that Arclight has already acquired.

Now back to waiting a full month for a new chapter :<

Most likely Eve is going to be one of the remaining two. I've been wondering if there were going to be any side effects from the Eden Seed Ishiyama exposed her to, and Saten did say 666 thought she had the potential to develop one.

I'm rather interested to know who the 9 members are that Arlight has already found. Assuming that all of the members of Shitenou have them, that would account for 5, the only other people who might qualify is Ishiyama, Strom, and (resurrected?) Hatfield. I suspect though that most of these mysterious members are probably characters we have never seen, and they won't play any part until the second series.

On the subject of Teruyama's clothes, couldn't help but notice the outfit he' s wearing is missing its trademark saying. Guess this was just a spare outfit Simon had laying around in case they cloned him again, and his original clothes burned with the clone. That or Kami just forgot to add them.

It isn't much because of how long the chapter was delayed (and how busy I have been recently) but I finally wrote up a piece on the last chapter of Needless (Chapter 97) and mainly on how awesome Solva was in that chapter. Here it is:

Gotta like Seto's new power upgrade. Should be interesting to see what her new powers will allow her to do besides a stronger Gyro Gravitation and changing the gravity so the knives Uten threw went into him rather than to the ground. Wonder if she'll be able to create a mini blackhole or something with her ability now. Should be interesting to see how she deals with Kafka and Uten together with her new powers. Gotta feel bad for Solva but it looks like she won't be figthing soon with her arms completely useless now. Do like the frame where her arms are just dangling there once the nerves have been cut. Poor Solva, glad I wrote that post about her before this.

Really happy to see the PGS fight each other. It's been hinted at for a long time and I'm glad to see it finally come to reality. It will be fun to see these comrades battle each other especially since they're still good friends. I wonder who will fight who considering that Teruyama squared off against Kuchinashi in Third Shelter (doubt it'd happen again but you never know). Wonder how Mio will do against Kuchinashi or Setsuna cuz I think she'd be at a disadvantage toward both. Kuchinashi can use Mio's Power against her (I doubt she'd seriously hurt Mio but she could) and Setsuna's speed would allow her to avoid any of Mio's attacks (considering how long her attacks are sometimes). But on wrong move for both and they'll be down for a while. I do think that Kuchinashi and Setsuna will join Mio/Cruz's side sometime soon but I wonder under what circumstances. I wonder if they'll be forced or if they'll make the decision on their own to desert Simeon. Kinda wondering if this fight will be comical/ecchi, too, considering it's Setsuna, Kuchinashi, Mio, and Teruyama and not Seto, Solva, Uten, and Kafka.

This might be my favorite fight in the whole manga if done properly.

I didn't mean to suggest that Setsuna is acting strange or out of her normal character. She's simply got her mind set on doing her job - something she has been trained to do obediently. Setsuna isn't angry with Cruz at all. She just asks him where Blade is, then reminds him that she said she'd probably have to kill him next time they met. She's got a straight face the entire time. Kind of emotionless really. Business mode, as I said.

To answer your other question, Setsuna mentions on page 18 that her previous attack would have broken Cruz's neck before, and that he's clearly gotten stronger. Then she states that she won't have to hold back. Doesn't seem to me like she's gotten any sort of power boost, since nearly every Needless has super human strength by default, in addition to their power.

I suspect this fight will be mostly comic...which will make it like most of the fights in the series, really. Probably about the same tone as Seto, Solva, and Teruyama vs the Shoujo Butai way back when. This also means that shit can hit the fan and get serious at any time. It should be a fun fight to watch unfold either way - certainly more interesting than Seto and Solva vs Kafka and Uten, where most of my entertainment has come from one of Seto of Solva being incredibly badass.

Ah yes, Eve is a good bet. Strom too, since there's gotta be some reason or another why he was featured so prominently in the memories arc. I think the three main shoujo butai are possibilities too, given the nature of Seto's current awakening.

You're right though, we might not find out who the others are for a long time. I also suspect that the shadowy image of the 12 from back when the concept was first introduced is at least somewhat misleading

Hello everyone, I registered here just to post in this topic. Needless is one of my favorite series' and I've been looking for a good place to discuss it in for a long time. With that said, I have a theory about Cruz I'd like to share, although others may well have come up with it before now.

It's fairly obvious - at least to me - that Cruz is no longer completely human, if he ever was to begin with. Ever since Arclight's PF Zero blast he's shown increasingly amazing feats of durability. Falling down the cliff into the PGS Academy with barely a scratch, taking hits from Hatfield, brutalized by Mengroze's freaks, and now in the most recent chapter enduring a blow that Setsuna claims should have snapped his neck. There's also the matter of the pill Blade forced him to take. I highly doubt it was just a simple tranquiliser - there were far more effective ways to make Cruz stay in the Black Spot, plus Disk was dead set on making him swallow it for some reason.

My theory is that Cruz is a Needless, perhaps even one who posesses a dormant stigmata. It sounds far-fetched, I know, but the more I think about it the more sense it makes. In the Memories Arc we see Blade transfer Doppelganger to Eve, losing his stigmata in the process. It's fairly safe to say that his stigmata was therefore tied to Doppelganger rather than the Zero fragment. Blade loses his stigmata, but we don't see Eve gain it. Where did it go? It can't simply have disappeared. It must have been transfered to Eve somehow, since Blade doesn't have it.

Perhaps Eve wasn't qualified to posess the stigmata and it became dormant inside her. It's a stretch, but if that is the case it might have passed over to Cruz when Eve used Doppelganger to heal him after Aruka savaged him in the Simeon building. He only starts showing increased durability after that moment.

Just a few thoughts.

Hello to everyone here. Hope everyone has been doing well. Haven't been here in ages......

But I have been keeping up with Needless, just haven't read ch 98 yet but from the comments I read on here can't wait to read it!

Just wondering when Saten will make his reappearance.......... and I'm glad that Teruyama is back; Love Solva's comment in ch. 97 about crushing Kafka like "a spider burger."

Was going to bed but can't sleep after reading the comments about ch98.

I'm so glad that Mio cares about Cruz so much and protects him. Those two really bonded, which to me, is great! I think they make the perfect pair together! I agree with the comments that Setsuna and Kuchinashi will eventually come around. Just seems funny how different Setsuna is now compared to the St. Rose story arc..... but she did mention that if the next time they meet they "might" have orders to kill him. But Hatfield told Cruz after dislocating his arm that Simeon wanted Cruz taken alive. I know Setsuna probably wants Cruz dead to silence him because of the incidents at St. Rose academy, but if Simeon, specifically Arclight still wants Cruz alive, Setsuna would be blatantly ignoring Arclight's orders.

One person whose whereabouts are still unknown is Professor Gido. Anyone have any ideas about that?

It seems fairly clear that Cruz is not entirely human. He's shown incredible feats of durability over the last few arcs - falling down a cliff into the PGS Academy, taking blows from Mengroze's monsters, and in the most recent arc he endures a blow that Setsuna claims should have broken his neck. Then there's the whole 'climbing up a sheer wall' thing he did a few chapters ago, and ANn's apparent interest in him.

There are a number of reasons I can think of for this. One is that Cruz used to be a normal human but recently became a Needless. We know it's possible for humans to become a Needless - ingesting Eden Seeds can do it, though it often results in death. Another is that Cruz was always a Needless and is currently in the process of awakening to his powers. We know this is possible as well - in the same scene with Ishiyama, Saten and the Prime Minister, Saten says that to a Needless small amounts of Eden Seeds are nothing, and occasionally even helps them to awaken. Cruz's sister is a powerful missing link Needless, and I always thought it was odd that she was a Needless and he wasn't despite presumably having the same parents.

In either case, Eden Seeds are required. And it just so happens that Cruz has been exposed to Eden Seeds in the past. I am of course refering to Arclight's PF Zero blast after his fight with Blade, where he uses Eden Seed release to power up the blast. I don't think it's a coincidence that Cruz begins showing superhuman feats only after this event.

That's another possibility, one that many people in this thread appear to favor.

One thing always struck me as odd, though. When Saten and Ishiyama confront Blade and co. about saving Eve, they explain how Eden Seeds are a bilogical weapons that are fatal to normal humans, and that everyone present at Arclight's PF Zero blast were showered with them.

So then, what about Cruz? It's conspicuous how nobody adresses the fact that he too must have been showered by Eden Seeds. If Saten and Ishiyama are being truthful then either he's one of the extremely rare cases where humans adapt to the Eden Seeds and become Needless, or he already was one beforehand and the blast awakened his powers.

Or he was human up until Eve healed him, which may or may not have given him Blade's stigmata. Regardless of what he used to be, I highly doubt Cruz is human now.
