A perfect team that no one can beat? Itachi. One man killing machine. But if counting members in five is a team, my team will be:

Shikamaru - The brain
Naruto - The muscle
Shino - The intimidation (he is almost as cool as Kabuto

)
Rock Lee - The man (resisting is futile when this sexy bowl-cut beast sparkle his teeth at you)
Temari - The girl (as wnkryo pointed out, almost every team in the anime has a girl; but who is gonna tame this wild beast, except Sasuke may be) *sasuke will be allowed to accompany my team as the designated b***h to tame our girly beast

About the military ranks, it has been discussed many times already. They actually don't represent your strength after all. Just look at Kabuto- he's a Genin that's as strong as Kakashi.

simple really..Kabuto is the James Bond type who works well by himself..Working under a team hinders his ability as we have seen in the anime..That's what I think most of the Kabuto-fans reasoned..

No one put Kabuto, for the same reason no one put Itachi on an actual team. He may technically be a genin, but he shouldn't be. Both he and Itachi are jounin level, or higher in Itachi's case. Plus I don't think Sasuke would work well with Itachi, nor Naruto with Kabuto.

he was an ANBU... he may have been a chuunin when he was promoted, but his is/was an ANBU... and this isnt about anbu teams

Anbu is a job not a rank. Anbu member can be either chuunin or Jounin. While I don't remember it ever being said, apparently Itachi is still officially a chuunin.

5. It's a toss up between shikamaru because of his shadow technique and rock lee's awesome abilities level headedness and strength. but if its at the moment then rock has to stay home cuz of the bruises and cuts.

I chose the younger guys not because i am a pedophile but because that was my original intention and its harder to have to choose between the younger guys then the adults cuz they are all so strong. But if it was ANYONE itachi, sasuke,kakashi,neji and Naruto (Kyuubi only). DOH I FORGOT TO ADD GAARA WTF IS WRONG WITH ME!!!

I find it funny how you guys say things like how Sasuke and Itachi wouldnt work well together or that Kabuto wont work well with a team.

Kabuto will work fine with a team, he is the smartest character on the entire show and can do basically anything required, the fact is that he just doesnt need a team.

Secondly, Sasuke will do whatever the hell Itachi tells him to do, because if he doesnt Itachi could bitch slap him into next week.

Besides im in charge when you ask this question and i will make them all work together.

Also the question doesnt say anything about technically or theoretically, it says genin/chunnin, and both Itachi and Kabuto are genin/chunnin and that is a FACT. Doesnt matter that they are stronger than most Jounins (all in Itachis case) if it did it would apply to all 3 other kids, Neji,Naruto, and Sasuke are all stronger than any of the lame Chunnin in leaf village.

Naruto- creativity and stamina
Temari- Need a girl so would be her. Beside she is quite smart and powerful.
Shikamura- Need a calm and quite mature person that is also very smart to be the team leader.
Iruka- Need an experience person.
Gaara- Need a guy that could do an absolute or good enough defense for everyone. Neji seem like he could only do it for himself. Beside, Gaara doesn't hesitate to kill. Good in battle. Also, Temari is there to make Gaara a lil stable/comfy.

Itachi : nope, I don't take in a team someone who could decide to suddenly annihilate his comrades.
Becide Itachi is a deserter, chuunin being a military rank, I don't think that he's chuunin anymore, he's a class S criminal now.

Kabuto : nope, I don't take in a team someone who could decide to suddenly put his comrades in Oro's bed.
Becide and for the same reason that Itachi, he doesn't have a military rank in Konoha.

Gaara : nope, I don't take in a team someone who could suddenly annihilate his comrades if he fall asleep or just if he becomes crazy.

Rock Lee : nope, first he's badly wounded but anyway Sasuke can replace him in all.

So :
Shikamaru : the leader of course
Naruto : secret weapon, raw power, the heroes usually win.
Sasuke : all his skills, speed, curse seal.
Neji : For his sight, awareness and power.
Shino : intelligence, insects

kiba (nice scout)
chouji (he's very strong)
neji (a genius.. also, he could be a second leader if anything happens)

i could pick sakura instead of chouji, she knows a lot of things
a genin/chuunin with medical knowledge would be nice too..

the all confuzion trickster team

1. shika
2. naruto
3. shino
4. kin - the only genin with real illusion skills
5. ino

if you fight this team, you will never know what to expect.

naruto doing a kage bunshin then henge to make multiple shikas, kins, and inos would be scary to see on the battlefield. then, add in the illusion skills of kin and you have no idea where/how to find who's attacking you. this would also make it easier for ino to take over opponents. if you find that you are unable to move, you will also have a hard time discerning if you are being trapped by kin or shika - plus, if they henge into each other as well, that's another ploy they can use to confuse opponents.

i think this combo would give shika and naruto the most to work with in terms of range of possible strategies/tactics to employ.

shino is also a great support character since he can scout and call up a host of agents to aid the cause - all those chakra bugs just add to the confuzion - plus, all the characters can "hide" themselves by using henge to transform into a chakra bug - now, you have to worry that much more about every bug you see... also great for retreating/defensive purposes as well...

just imagine facing a swarm of chakra bugs, but no actual person that you can see due to everyone using henge (then add in shadow manipulation to extend the shadow cast of the swarm, and the constant ringing of those crazy bells of kin) - you wouldn't even know what hit you

the possibilities are endless and frightening for this group in the hands of shika and naruto
