Pink Pineapple only do cute sisters or schoolgirls, these days. Nothing original, always the same formula, the same characters. Disappointing.

I guess they don't want to replicate the failure of Hininden Gausu...

The "Melancholy" arc of the novels was entirely used up within 2 DVDs, as those who buy the region 1s will know. So my answer to your question is "both".

Since I guess none of you can actually read Japanese, I'll have to tell what it says. From looking at it, the story of season 2 will begin with the tanibata events (when Haruhi wrote that stuff in the school court on the 7th of July), then to go into the book 4 story line (which will be godly). It also anounces a PS2 game where you are Kyon and have to create a video game (where Haruhi can be the hero if you want, as well as a new figure of that Haruhi with a sword, I might buy that), announces a Wii game by Kadokawa, and a PSP game with a story (with minigames). This is not fake, this is Newtype. And, Tsukasa doesn't know what Haruhi is.

edit: I'll also note I half expected them to call this season "Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu", but they kept it the same, it looks.

Oh ho-ho-ho. It's unfair that I can only cookie you once. Not that I want to get ahead of myself, but hopefully 2008 will mark the year for another season of Full Metal Panic, the other great show from KyoAni.
