Important Note : I will put oldies in links (they are most of the time over 100kb...yeah huge... but at these times, i didn't know about the "save for the web" feature...), recent are directly shown. Please note that the "oldies" are... well, quite old, therefore they are pretty much from the "stone age". So please do not expect anything special. I'm leaving some comments, notably for special note or translations of the french text.

if you have some critics, advices, questions, etc, feel free to post, I will gladly read them and answer them.

Loved the Rena one.

I have tried that style myself in the past but I have never managed to get it right.

edit : i was also fustrated that i couldn't put her name in japanese, because of that damn photoshop.
does anyone know how i can use asian fonts on it? i'm wondering what's wrong, since i don't have any problems reading asian sites with my XP configs, and writing/copying pasting any asian texts on word/notepad just work fine
There are several brushes that mimic the japanese writing. I have seen some if you are interested in those. (kinda low quality I am afraid. )

Of course, if there's a way to use the fonts directly, I'll like to know as well.

brush for that? err, i'll pass, i will probably mess up with it XD

anyway, here is the second "oyashiro-sama mode", keiichi turn "Bat of madness" :
-first version (old font) (Alternative :font change)

EDIT : thanks to the great tatarigoroshi-hen, i could find something... well "mad fancy" for the left part, though it's a bit... deformed (deen "art", indeed XD)

-second version (old font)

comments on the usual recent works posts, thoughts? XD

Sadly, that's how things are in this section.

My suggestion is to simply "keep doing your best". If you update this thread every ten days or so, I am sure more people will eventually notice your work and will eventually start posting their comments here.

Anyway, with regards on the whole feedback thing:

Everything fits so well in your new Higurashi sig.

The only bit of trouble would be the roughness of the japanese characters. Perhaps you could "Hide it" with an effect like you did with the Keichii one?

The one of Shana is also very nice, but I wonder how it would look if Shana's face were a little more visible.

Oh yes, and before I forget...... There's a new banner contest coming up in the next few weeks here in Animesuki. If you enter it, you could show your work to a lot more people that way.

Anyway, thats just another suggestion in the end.

yes, i understand, and well, this isn't that bad either (common sentence over here : no news, good news ! )

i will probably try some "signature request" topic, when i have free time/inspiration (i don't expect any request in this thread )

in fact, the "ひぐらしのく頃に" become always pretty rough when i try to shrink it >_<. as for keiichi sig, i tried to do this on the third sig, but it was screwed because of the blending with the BG.

however, i will try to smooth a bit the curves (especially the ひ and に) and maybe a better blend setup. (im just afraid that the impact of the whole text would be screwed if it's too blurry, because of the size and importance of it on the third ban, rather being a little "reference title" on the first 2 sigs)

i was in the same dilemna . the problem came mainly from the original picture, which the brightness of the face is "flaring" a lot around the center of the head, which become... plain yellow/white with blending XD.

i think it's "okay", but this is on the limit, i admit it. (i should probably use some "sharpness" around, and a little less transparency on my usual "shaded in the BG" character ^^')

i'm working on it ! (seriously ! )

EDIT : "second" version done. the eyes were sharpened, the whole transparency as been very slightly reduced and i removed a bit the blur of the right side (fillied with hair, "more natural" than plain BG i guess)

before : http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/718/banshanani3.jpg
after : http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/5...nshana3xw7.jpg

errr, i'll give it a try, though i hope i "will" have inspiration (seriously, i'm not that good about "randomness", since, if i have no affinity with the giving subject, it will be plain blanc XD)

anyway, thanks for your comment, again, it was really helpful and cheerful (for me anyway ^^).

Fighting Spirit ! (kinda ~~)

i guess the way you post you image are confusing.and feel repecting.and I guess you comment on yourself a bit to much.
(the more you typed...the more the reader have to read.)
(will you read every thread of A unknown member which you don't like him/her very much?will you read every-words if you are a visual-people?)
(when you typed a lot....there can only be someone who real likes you or really hate you to answer.""or a random idiot like me.thinking they could save the world by themself!"")

i love simple the best.one to three image per post....

and your sence of colour was a bit darkly boring.r ed black ,blur.
which whEn this type of style are very common on UK,USA...newbie

and.....and this is not only one image you are confusing me about.
you post a load of your history so ...... is impossible for me to feedback ..because your thread need those who'D....really had read you history to reply your thread?

ignore me the idiot anyway.everyone have a way to work.
but making other people reply on you ......is just just just, not a matter of talking ten thousand of words about yourself ...thinking about marketing?if you being study business.
is not you the one buy the food important, but is those who's your customer matter.

the comments i left on each sig are meant for the reader "if they want to understand" why/how i ended using effects/pictures like this.
the main purpose of doing it is to avoid redondant "question answer" and also provide a direct information about how i do that (this isn't boasting or anything, i feel like explaining what i do is the easier way to spot my weaknesses and being able to correct them right away)

i guess i tought that people bored with the texts would jump directly on the signatures. it was probably a silly bet, i admit.

so, i put a little "warning for boring things" in the first post XD. if it's not enough, well, i will probably put the comments on spoiler rather than links, or simply removing them.

though i'm aware it's not really a stunning style, i use this amount of blending because of the anime chosen ^^". i'm not really attracted by "SFX/abstract" signature with a plain random character on it... this is well... contradictory for most of time. this isn't only for animesuki of course, it's a general observation. (an imagined example : is it normal to put flashy plasma, ray of lights etc for... seichi from midori no hibi? i mean come on... fancy effects are good, but they are quite... useless on characters which are not really suited with them in their respective universe. (well this is my opinion))

ho no, not at all. feel free to skip every bracket (in fact, that's why i put them in quote brackets, so people will see easier when i begin and when i ended my silly chitchat), indeed, the main meaning of this thread is to show signatures, not a blog, this is normal.

Quote:

i'm not ignoring this, and i'm thankful to you for that kind of comment. this isn't giving me only an opportinity to justify, but also another to correct some things (here, the presentation should probably be more straightforward, which is finally done).

about you food analogy, the "cook" doesn't only provide "food" for the "customer" but also learn from their work, and advancing in their skills.
i'm talking about "chef" indeed (and no, i'm not a pro, not at all, that's why i still need huge learning from what i usually do), which have their own sense of self critcism. how can you do good things to eat if you feel yourself that they are simply tasteless, disgusting etc?
would the "apparant" satisfaction of the customer be enough? (for some yes, but some maniacs are kinda... perfectionist XD)

nothing is perfect, and though the "cook" is probably overreacting about his own doubts, this can't be "that" bad as long he is not that pessimistic, ruining his work byhimself.
receiving advanced and constructive suggestions/critics are as valuable as comments of satisfaction, in my own eyes.

[Major Edit] : the original thread has been modified : straightforward this time i hope. (putting the signatures blocks in quote instead of spoiler. putting the comments in spoiler brackets instead of quotes)

Hey Klashikari, check this site out.

They have all the japanese characters fonts we have been looking for and they all work like a charm.

I have already downloaded and tried them all, and they all proved to be HQ stuff. (Hint: not all the fonts are listed under the Asian fonts label )

EDIT:

Oh wait, they are all listed there. I just failed to notice the next page link at the bottom.

i don't really rely on brush in fact, since the characters are put from a convertion of a certain key, it becomes a headache if you must remember which original key will give "that sign", rather than a possibility to type yourself with a program or copy-paste. (in the other hand, it's quite easier to have fantasy style in a faster way) but thanks anyway.

EDIT :
at last, i have in fact found the ridiculous answer : iyou can only use Unicode font (or something like that XD)... (i'm not really an expert of coding, but sounds like PS just use font within their respective character range, which isn't the same with "unicode" used in text software like word, notepad etc saddly)

i dunno how it is shown in your software, but in mine (PS 6.0, pretty old i know, but it's enough to me ^^), fonts are separeted. the fonts which can use hiragana/katana/kanji and all are group "MS xx" (no in the common mass, but some fonts in their own category) and group "Arial Unicode MS" + the fonts below it. (this should be possible to anyone, since windows use theses fonts if you installed the asian pack from the languages, in the control panel)

http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fonts1km8.jpg
http://img175.imageshack.us/my.php?image=fonts2ym5.jpg

if anyone can explain/confirm, it would be great ^^" (but whatever, it's finally fixed ! )

second edit : in fact, using these 2 groups of fonts allow only copy paste + roman chacter adding (letters, ponctuation. in fact, the whole ASCII) BUT you cannot use space weirdly -_- (in fact, it's pretty screwed... damn coding mess T_T ) the best way to use that thing is to put your text on a document (notepad for example) and simply copy paste in a new layer. (better than nothing)
I am actually pretty clueless on this sort of thing.

I simply installed the fonts, tried them and saw them working.

I have also tried several effects on some wallpapers and sigs, and everything seems to work fine so far. (Using Photoshop CS)

yup, i didn't say the opposite, just that it's not really good if you have to either put random characters or memorize which key will give "X character" in "Y font".
that's why i was seeking which default font could actually show the real characters by using them directly (software or copy paste), instead of always using "premade character via keys font" or title from artwork >_> (yeah, i used the higurashi logo from artwork, which is why it was freaky squeezed in the first rena sig XD)

anyway, major anime sig issue resolved, this should be a bit easier for me (i hope XD)

just take your time, it will be easier for an accurate expactation ^^

after a huge inspiration problem (my brain was already melt down with the winter banners ), here is the new signature :

this time, a "rather popular" character, fate-chan, deadly moe mage (the last episode of the first serie will probably stays in history for such ... amount of exagerrated moe-factors, gah, my brain XD)

for this one, i tried a "different" style (the fancy "tech" stuff... yeah, rather simple and not really smooth >_<), though it's not really something i'm used with.

this will probably get some changes (the different "blocks and lines" of black and yellow are intended, and some interpelation/graineness as well)

PS : yeah i know, i should make yuuji sig, but... this guy simply lacks of DECENT pictures ~~ (no real solo artwork from Ito-sensei... only his rather boring face in the anime ~~)
i'll try friagne or anyone else in SnS, but this will be... hell
