Yea, that was bizarre. My best guess is Sogo got his hands back on the quicker board before they fell and executed some form of hard landing breaking it in the process.

Not explicitly animating any of what happened during the fall and then skipping straight to hunkdey-dorey was quite jarring.

Uh, this is weird. The setting is okay, but the characters are so messed up - rich boy gets rejected from runaway bride and proceeds to thrash the scooter she is on with his car!? Then they both fall down a giant hole to some underground lake of insignificant depth, they don't get wet (so they didn't even fall in the lake?) and are both just fine o_0 Even weirder is the fact that rich dude went down there just to get Kaon back for the wedding; he didn't seem to care about, you know, her and Sougo being alive or anything. The same mindset seems to be adopted by the excavation team, who attack children because...??? Like wtf, does everyone WANT to be a criminal? I really don't know, completely lost it there.

Anyway, I'll give it another 3 episodes and see how it goes.

First episode was all over place, but characters are fun and that girl friend managed get enough affection points before rival appearance so she might have actually chance for once.

Enjoyed this. Get tired of all the angsty over the top drama crap seen in so many of the 'popular' shows. One of only two this season that even interests me. Guess I'm getting jaded. lol

that's my reaction to this kind of set up. Even more if it is a loli. Also today probably I'm not in the right mood, so I'll give it a try another day. Or better, I'll lurk this thread to see if things get better.

I don't get why people are complaining. I thought this was really good and has the potential to be something really big. The plot seems unique and interesting and the characters are also likeable. The world is very believable, and the culture is already as strange as ever. If I had one complaint, it would be that episode isn't out yet.

I think I'm not the only one being reminded fo Laputa with so much homage in a single episode. It's like old school adventure like Future Boy Conan and Laputa mixing up with modern robots and this feels a bit strange, but that's not really a problem. The tention between a peaceful town and the approaching army is good, and the world seems likable.

Suspension of disbelief would be a bigger problem in the long run if they keep showing problems like falling into cave unhurt unexplained and fiancee's dangerous actions toward his bride. While we can look for explanation for every incidence, it would will become blending the law of universe for the plot if they keep on doing this without any good covering. Hope they don't turn of audience for such reason at some point.

Did they blow the budget on the first episode? This might be common practice, I don't know.

There were 4 action scenes:
1) Hoverboard after finding mineral
2) Launch of enemy mechas
3) Chase scene and fall
4) Finding Felia & mecha battle

That's kind of a lot for one episode, don't you think? I didn't feel like the action "never stopped," but it certainly didn't stop for very long, when it did stop.

I don't think it was a lot... This was a completely cookie-cutter first episode for a mecha anime. Like, a textbook example.

First we see our hero doing what he usually does, learning that he's everydude but with a quirk/interest that is relevant to the story (in our case, minerals and hoverboards). We then we meet the potential love interest and the potential rival. We also learn a bit about the future enemy and their machinations. Our hero then shows off his awesome skill at whatever it is that he does well, and as a direct or indirect result we are shown the mystery that will kick off the plot, in form of a mecha and in this case, a mysterious girl.

This is pretty much every cliché in mecha anime first episodes ever.

Felia is just so adorable! I hope we learn more about her including that green little creature that also appeared to be alive and wants to be protect her..

The mysterious mecha that showed up could be a key to this show's story as well.
Well it's only the second episode so I think the explanation will come later.

Okay, there's still so many things happening that it just doesn't really have time to explain anything, but the "show don't tell" storytelling work pretty well in this case. I still don't get what was happening to the robot though and why Felia had a connection with such mechanical creature and why Mora still follow after her, but I will not deny that she's overwhelmingly cute and all, she loves to spout anything other people say in single words, I'm still thinking she could properly talk later on which is one thing I always wanted to see in the show. On the other hand, there's a mystery involving a evil syndicate trying to search after Felia, then again the writer just wanted to keep everything and then detail more about it around halfway.

Speaking of other things, I loved the background art and its themed prop designs, some of its animation is fluid and the whole cat and mouse plot reminds me of Lance N' Masques which also had a little girl being targeted by rival organizations.

It's probably going to be the only show I'm going to still look forward every Sunday.
