I'd love to see more Patlabor. One of the few shows that would fit in seamlessly with current anime. Plus more Noa Izumi wouldn't hurt. |

I agree about rebooting Zeta Gundam coz I want Sayla to be Amuro’s girlfriend in it (not some random girls), like it’s supposed to. I know about Sayla’s VA ‘problem’ at the time. Still, screwing one good character coz her VA is ‘unavailable’ is not really fair.
@Bri I agree with you about the 3D dogfights have to blend well with 2D if they want to remaster SDF. Also, Mikimoto character design all the way too. @Rethice Umm...we're kinda talking about remaking/rebooting ancient animes that will be benefited by the current technology. Persona 4 is still airing and hasn't even reach its 5th episode yet.

Really, my bad then.
Still, is his point involves recreating/improving an (old) anime with the newest tech (coz that's kinda what we're discussing here)? It's not a rhetoric question, just simple question coz I simply don't know .

That Persona 4 suggestion simply means that the current director sucks.
As for the topic, I'd like to pitch in some more old anime that I'd like remade: Jigoku Sensei Nube and Magic Knight Rayearth. I chose Nube because I'd like to see more horror- and supernatural-themed series which doesn't involve gore (I'm looking at you Dororon Meeramera). And besides, Junji Ito's Gyo would like to have a companion in scaring the heck out of its viewers. As for Rayearth, I just wanted the characters done using the finer lines of modern animation.

SDF Macross, the series, for two reasons:
1. The dogfights may be good for its day, but I can't watch it now without snickering. __1.5. Some scenes like the hand-to-hand fight between Max and Miria is just terrible and could definitely use a remake 2. The story is my favorite, but IMO there are pacing problems after the battle of Earth and I'm hoping for it to be fixed.

Legend of Galactic Heroes is just fine as it is, unless you meant updating the tactics shown in the anime with the newest progresses in warfare, like the addition of stealth and the changes in electronic and computer warfare. But really, other than those, a remake would not be the same without VAs like Kei Tomiyama and Kaneto Shiozawa.
On topic, I will say Great Teacher Onizuka. |

There are probably a lot of more recent series that could do with a remake by a better studio. Pretty much any DEEN or GONZO produced series of the last six year or so has an element that wish it was done by KyoAni instead.
(Despite not being able to get though all of Macross 7, having Zentrati women turning fangirl in the middle of a battle was hilariously awesome. Also Max and Mina's reactions to it was priceless after the kissing part of "deculture" failed them)

Add Angel Beats to that list, with 2cours. Coincidentally, it has the same director as P4

Btw, I agree with SDF: Macross. Despite liking Frontier, it was bit jarring that they decided to add "moe" and loads of it, in what was pretty much a moe-free franchise. So I would like to see a modernized version of the first Macross (without moe overload preferably!) Last edited by Pocari_Sweat; 2011-10-18 at 23:47. |

That would be amusing. Though would it follow the manga more closely? I sort of got attached to the anime version of Rie. Also there would be a lot more direct death and Sailor Moon actaully doing stuff herself, as oppose to being...mostly useless in a fight, which would be rather different to most viewers.
Makes one wonder just how much different from Modaka Sailor Moon really is when you take the manga model
